I cannot believe how much these paper books cost! I am so glad I bought my copies when they first came out. I was on the edge of my toes as I finished one book and eagerly anticipating the others. A very good read and with ebooks now, makes it even faster to obtain. I highly recommend this series and author. Happy reading!

I did something with this series that I've never done before. When I finished the last book I started at book 1 and read them all again.

It is all about transformation and the struggles between the flesh and the spirit. It is about loyalty and perseverance. It's about choices and destiny.

If it weren't for the steamy scene in one chapter I would recommend it for everyone. It is a great story about becoming more than one ever dreamed they could be.

I had a hard time setting this book down - and the next 3- and when I did I couldn"t help thinking about it. Miss Hancock does a great job bringing our spiritual walk to life and making it more tangible. Hard to explain, but a fantastic story with something exciting always happening! I not only am recommending it to my friends but buying a copy to pass around!

Although I thought this novel had engaging fantasy world-building and interesting spiritual themes, not only would I not compare it to Tolkien (but every fantasy publisher will, no matter what) but I agree with other reviewers--I read this a few years ago as a tween, thinking as a Christian Tolkien-esque novel it would be appropriate, but I was unpleasantly surprised by the sexual content. I only say "no, I would not recommend it to a friend" because of that element, without which it was a good read. I think the ideal situation for this book would be an adult reading it, or for young teenage fantasy fans, have a parent read it aloud.

Three words: Fan-tas-tic. I couldn't put this book down. One of the most incredible books I've ever read. I would definitely put here in the same playing field as C. S. Lewis (though he will always be my favorite, ever!). The allegory is absolutely fantastic, and the imagery is captivating. Hancock paints a beautiful picture full of sights, sounds, smells, etc. The story is an awesome portrayel of someone's search for truth. I wouldn't reccomend it to younger readers, but someone my age (16) or older would definitely enjoy it. I recently finished this book and am currently in the middle of the sequel (which may be even better than this one). Karen Hancock is now one of my favorite authors. INCREDIBLE!!!
