Celia Hartmann1 Stars Out Of 5Yes, it really is that bad!September 16, 2014Celia HartmannQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I have to say that I totally agree with the other two reviewers! I read the reviews prior and wondered if it could really be as bad as they say....I'm sorry to say that yes, it really is! If I could give it zero stars, I would.
AOP should be embarrassed to have actually produced this! I have no problem with making science fun--it should be--but 8th graders should be getting ready for high school level science labs, and this video does not come anywhere close to preparing them. Instead, it makes them feel like they're in 2nd grade, and it certainly does nothing to foster a love for science.
Please, save your money. If you don't have the material on hand to do an experiment, try looking for an on-line video. It may not correspond exactly to the lesson, but anything is better than this DVD.
Teacher DadAge: 35-44Gender: male1 Stars Out Of 5Extremely Annoying "Scientist"September 6, 2013Teacher DadAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1The character in this video might be appropriate for first or second graders. But Eighth graders?? Come on! My kids said, "Dad, do we really have to watch this? This is the dumbest video ever! Can you send it back?" My recommendation is, lose the ridiculous "scientist" character and the video might have some value.
swsmissusAge: 45-54Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5sorry I got this...March 23, 2011swsmissusAge: 45-54Gender: femaleValue: 1Meets Expectations: 1I am sorry I bought this item. Now, if your children require goofy silliness in order to learn things, this might be for your family, but we thought the "funny" professor completely unnecessary and would have found it easier to "learn" from the science experiments without the goofiness. Unfortunately, I bought TWO of these lifepac science dvds and have one more (Science 9) still to watch. Hopefully the "professor" in that one will be a little more "professional" :)
