Reading integration is also part of the learning sequence in the Bible LIFEPACS for levels 100-600. The Lifepac provides built-in lesson plans; ensures ease of use for teacher and student; establishes clear objectives; organizes material; teaches critical thinking skills; and integrates biblical concepts. The Lifepac booklet is the basic unit of Alpha and Omega's worktext curriculum. Ten Lifepacs constitute a year's study in one subject. Each Lifepac takes approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. BIBLE - GRADE 1
The 1st Grade Bible Boxed Set contains all 10 student worktexts, plus a comprehensive Teacher's Guide.

Kathi Abbott5 Stars Out Of 5May 7, 2008Kathi AbbottI would like to say something about this world we live in. We could add to the hate or the cutting down of ones good works, our we could be thankful for what God provides. I for one am very thankful for these works that have been offered to us home educator. These curriculums couldn't have been easy to put together. But nevertheless they are doing God's work (teaching the children about God). So I say, keep up the Holy works of God and may he bless you richly for them.
Sandra3 Stars Out Of 5February 1, 2008SandraWe are enjoying the Grade 1 Bible Lifepacs. The teacher's manual is user-friendly. My son especially enjoys using the extra worksheets that often have artistic appeal. You need a photocopier to use them, though. It's easy to use. I think these are a little basic for a first grader though. I use them with my kindergartener, and even with the extra discussions in the TM, I don't think my son has learned one single new thing in 3 Lifepacs. We have enjoyed the discussions nonetheless, and I like knowing I am covering all my bases. If you like to "cover your bases" then these are a pretty good option, especially if your child doesn't already know all his or her Bible stories and days of Creation.
Danette Groce4 Stars Out Of 5July 26, 2000Danette GroceI found the format of the Lifepac grade 1 Bible series to be very good. The teacher manual was user-friendly and the 10 Lifepac booklets were very appealing to my child. She is artistic and the additional activitiy sheets provided in the teacher's manual were most motivating to her as were the drawing pages within the Lifepacs. She enjoyed the variety of activities incorporated within the Lifepac for they required and reinforced skills need or used in other subject areas, such as, Reading, Language, and Handwriting. The series is a little weighty on writing but modifications can be made by allowing the child to circle the answer instead of writing out the answer. Over all, I was generally pleased and so was my child. These are the essentials that matter to motivate both instructor and child.
Q: Are bible stories included or are you expected to read it from your bible?
Simple versions of the Bible stories, with enough information to complete the lessons, are included in the Lifepacs.
Q: Are these separate Bible courses really necessary for grade 1? I looked over table samples of the booklets and am wondering if I really need this at all. I am using Lifepac for Kindergarten and there are many Bible lessons weaved throughout the Language Arts and Math materials that seem more advanced than this. Opinions, please?
It is not required to advance to the next grade level.
Q: What bible stories are studied?
Grade 1, Part 1 includes: God created all things; God loves His children (God cares for Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego; God cares for Joash and Esther); We can pray; God wants you to be good; Old Testament Stories (Joseph, Elijah, Jonathan and David; Miriam and Deborah; a rich woman and her son; Ishmael and Mephibosheth).
Grade 1, Part 2 includes: God's Promise; Jesus, Our Saviour; God calls missionaries (the woman at the well; Stephen and Paul); New Testament Stories (Lazarus, Thomas, Stephen; Mary, Anna, Lydia; Children in the New Testament; Jesus and the children); God gave you many gifts.
Q: What comes with this set? Do I need to separately purchase teacher's guide 2 to complete the curriculum?
The "Lifepac Complete Sets" do include the Teacher's Guide, so there is no need to purchase it separately.
