I have enjoyed all of the movies by the Kendrick brothers, but this is a first for me. I read the book before seeing the movie. I was unaware they had a new movie being released until I saw the book at the local library. I totally enjoyed the story. Certain characters stood out as exceptional role models while others were toward the opposite end of the spectrum. Unlike many books, I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite character. Near the beginning of the story, I got my hackles up at the way Nate was acting toward David and everyone else on the first day of school. I did not expect them to become friends, but I guess he was just the kind of child that grew on others. Or maybe David was simply a child who had a positive impact on everyone around him including Nate. The story packs a powerful message concerning a huge social issue affecting our world today. I think everyone in the story faced some exceptionally dark moments when things seemed almost hopeless, but hope springs eternal. Some of them had to figure things out on their own and get back up for another try at life, while others had strong support from friends and family. Although the subject matter was serious, I appreciated touches of humor sprinkled throughout, especially when Paw Paw, who was hard of hearing would misunderstand what someone said and come out with an off-the-wall comment either in response or as a question for clarification. I highly recommend this book.

This is a novelization of an upcoming movie by the Kendrick Brothers and I am now so excited for that movie! This is a story of adoption and it's really beautiful to look at it from each angle - the angle of the birth parents, the angle of the adoptive parents, and the angle of the child himself. Because the beginning of the story starts with the teenaged birth parents and then the whole second half is heavily focused on the teenage adoptee, I feel that this one also works quite well for teenagers who are interested in adult Christian fiction and I have put it on my kids' potential high school reading shelf. Although teen pregnancy is an important part of this story we never see any graphic depictions of the situations that led to le bebe.

Chris Fabry's LIFEMARK is a companion book to the newest Kendrick Brothers' movie production of the same name. I am a fan of both Fabry and the Kendricks. At this writing, I have yet to see the movie, however based on this book, I look forward to seeing it.

While it might be convenient to categorize this story as a pro-life and pro-adoption story, Fabry's skilled storytelling brought out a compelling and inspirational story about people, Just a good story that happens to include these themes.

Unwanted and/or inconvenient pregnancies aren't political--it's about people. Life's complexities and heartache and the exhausting emotional commitments to these "issues" were so beautifully depicted. I have to say it again: it is about people. And Chris Fabry knows how to write the stories of people's messy and complex lives--with hope.

I highly recommend this book for fans of Chris Fabry's gritty, yet wholesome nd inspirational storytelling. Whatever your political position I encourage readers to see past politics to the story. The story of people facing difficult decisions, with an open heart,

I was given a free eBook of #lifemark from Tyndale House Publishers through #NetGalley for my honest review.
