This keys in on his early life and fills in many blanks. A very good read.
Ricky Kirk4 Stars Out Of 5Solid biographyFebruary 15, 2011Ricky KirkQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4The Life of Luther is a reprint of the book by Sears originally published in 1850. If you are book lover, you will no doubt love the look of this book (with its weathered looking cover, rough edged pages, and old-world typeset). Many students of Reformation history are familiar with the works of Luther, and a few read biographies about him as well. This is one biography that will provide a greater understanding of the events in Luther's life that shaped his religious views, which ultimately led him to be excommunicated by the Pope in 1520. In the words of Sears, 'It will, I trust, appear that the author has had no theory to establish, no secret to purpose to answer, but has studiously laboured to set forth Luther in his real character. His faults have not been concealed, nor his virtues wittingly overdrawn (page 9).' The author does this well and the end result is a great biography for any person who is interested in the life of Martin Luther.
