Life, Libby, and the Pursuit of Happiness by Hope Lyda is the captivating story of Libby Hawthorne. Lyda has truly captured the chick-lit formula and turned it into a page-turning story of laughter, love, and faith. The plot for this book was surprisingin a good way. Sometimes a book can be so predictable that you wonder why to finish it. Libby's story has little twists and turns all the way to the end. I also loved that Lyda used such intriguing characters throughout the story. No two personalities are the same; each character, no matter how small, has a background. These aren't just characters randomly dropped on the pages, instead, they have a history.
Libby takes us on a journey of sorting through her dreams. While she certainly has her ideal life planned out, she must decide if this is her dream or God's. Is it possible that while she has been living her life of failing dreams that God has something much greater in mind in which He is preparing her? This book causes you to pause and reflect on your own life, wondering whether the life and dreams you are living are those of your choosing, or the plans God has set out for you. While this is the first book of Lyda's I have read, I will certainly be moving her other two chick-lit books to the top of my reading list. Brandi Webster, Christian Book Previews.com
