The classic A Year with C.S. Lewis is an intimate day-to-day companion by C.S. Lewis, the most important Christian writer of the 20th century. The daily meditations have been culled from Lewis’ celebrated signature classics: Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Problem of Pain, Miracles, and A Grief Observed, as well as from the distinguished works The Weight of Glory and The Abolition of Man. Ruminating on such themes as the nature of love, the existence of miracles, overcoming a devastating loss, and discovering a profound Christian faith, A Year with C.S. Lewis offers unflinchingly honest insight for each day of the year.
Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954, when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and have been transformed into three major motion pictures.

LewisFebruary 6, 2016josiekenosha wi.Age: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a wonderful book. You may get to know, if you are not familiar with, an extraordinary Christian writer. And, if you have already read Lewis, this book will refresh and present key ideas from his many writings. Lewis thought that if something was worth reading, it should probably be read again. I agree. I hope that someone who has not read Lewis would give this a try. He wanted to express his ideas simply and clearly, and he does this in such a winsome way.

So far, each day's reading seems to come into the middle of a thought and finish before the thought is complete. One might do just as well to slowly read through the Lewis books used in this devotional. I ordered 4 to give as gifts, none had satin ribbon markers.

I didn't think it would change anything in my life, but now I think about the words C.S. Lewis writes and am able to connect them with my life. It has been so encouraging in my senior year of high school I have read almost every book of his, but this devotional gives you the best parts! This book is for any C.S.Lewis connoisseur. And if you don't already love C.S. Lewis, you should. =)
