A repackaged edition of the revered author's fictitious collection of letters in which he ruminates on the nature of prayer what it is, how it works, and how it should be practiced.
C. S. Lewis the great British writer, scholar, lay theologian, broadcaster, Christian apologist, and bestselling author of Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Chronicles of Narnia, and many other beloved classics shares his understanding of the role of prayer in our lives and the ways we might better imagine our relationship with God. Composed as a collection of fictitious dispatches to his friend, Malcolm, Letters to Malcolm, Chiefly on Prayer considers this basic display of devotion in its form, content, and regularity, and the ways it both reflects our faith and shapes how we believe."

A must read!August 5, 2016LucyHickory Grove, South CarolinaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Letters to Malcolm is a must read for any person, no matter their religious background. Lewis, writing on many issues that surround prayer, writes as a friend, discussing and sharing personal experiences and what he has learned with his fictional friend Malcolm. The letters are in an easy to read format and it amazes me that Malcolm is fictional because he seems so real!
Lewis is a master at taking hard to understand concepts or questions and explaining them from his heart, in an easy to understand manner, as true heartfelt experiences and what he has learned through them that can benefit others. This is the last book that C.S. Lewis wrote and was published after his death. He starts with "corporate prayer" and also discusses liturgy used in services. He then goes into private prayer, both the practical as well as the metaphysical components of it. This part includes "when to pray and where, ready-made prayer, petitionary prayer, prayer as worship, penitential prayer, and prayer for the dead". He concludes with delving into aspects of the soul and the resurrection. Lewis presents all this and more through a very salient discussion and gives us much food for thought. Through his own mediations, Lewis is able to give us insights into many of the issues and questions that so many people struggle with.
