Ricardo RochaLas Vegas, NV5 Stars Out Of 5February 1, 2011Ricardo RochaLas Vegas, NVThis is a very good book! It is a fiction, a conversation between the evangelist Luke and Antipas, but it is full of history. The author made this plot using the real New Testament background, so you can really feel as a real story. If you want to get deeper in your NT background and understand what context Christ was inserted in, you will enjoy the reading.
Rosemarie5 Stars Out Of 5September 7, 2009RosemarieThis book was given to me to read before visiting Greek/Turkish Biblical sites. Whether or not one has such an opportunity, this book is for EVERY Christian who has ever wondered what the early church experienced: the trials (literally), betrayals, and the horrors of Roman control. You will want to share it with someone so that you can discuss some interesting concepts: were the conflicts among these early house churches the beginnings of denominations? Was worshiping Christ in the pagan temples a means of evangelism OR only to avoid persecution? etc and etc...This book is very well written; so interesting, it would be great for a small group study. Each time I picked it up I felt I was joining Luke the Physician as he witnessed through letters to a friend about the living Christ. Yet it was the ones that Antipas associated with daily that had the most influence on his conversion; those that lived as Jesus taught: "do unto others".I am purchasing 3 copies for my adult children, eager for them to experience this incredible journey.
