I expect nothing less from Dr. Moo. It is easy to read, as well as thorough intellectually. I know that I will put this volume to use again when I teach anything from the epistle of James.
Katherine5 Stars Out Of 5September 16, 2010KatherineI really appreciate how thoroughly Moo addresses the relevant issues in an engaging and scholarly way. He questions the NIV translation where necessary, has good discussion in his word studies, and has a great introduction. Good focus on the central theme of spiritual wholeness.
Rick Squires4 Stars Out Of 5August 14, 2007Rick SquiresThis commentarty will be of great use if you are interested in a somewhat technical resource. Moo devotes a lot of attention to language and translation. This is a solid tool for analyzing the text. However, if you are looking for something of a devotional nature you'll want to go elsewhere (such as Wiersbe's commentary).
Raul Goulden4 Stars Out Of 5September 1, 2001Raul GouldenMoo has put together an excellent treatment of James. This was an interesting read, and I'm sure it will remain a valuable resource in my library.
Buddy Boone5 Stars Out Of 5December 6, 2000Buddy BooneThe Pillar New Testament Commentary series is one of my favorites and I look forward to each new publication. Douglas Moo has exceeded all of my expectations with this new commentary on the letter of James. It is thorough, clear and comprehensive. Moo provides excellent background material, all of the most plausible interpretations of difficult passages with an exaustive presentation of his own interpretation, and thoughtful application. The introduction is just tremendous. I came away from this one with a much better understanding of James' epistle!
