Lethal Intent is a hard-to-put-down legal/medical thriller by a favorite author of mine, Cara Putman. I've enjoyed a number of her other books was so looking forward to reading this one. I was not disappointed. Twists to the plot, vibrant, passionate characters with challenging hurdles to overcome, an intriguing insight into medical research and clinical trials, a sweet romance that helps to keep an emotional component to the tension-filled suspense--Lethal Intent has it all. I enjoyed reading about the foster care ministry and the need for wrap-around help for foster parents. That need is valid, as I've seen it in real life as a faith-based organization in my community does this for foster parents. The author has expertly crafted a suspense story that readers who love intrigue, mixed with a bit of romance, will not want to miss. I can't wait to read more from Cara Putman. I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

This intense, superbly written suspense novel is amazing! I loved it, from the very human characters with realistic dialogue and faith challenges to the medical and legal combination theme. It is one of the author s very best to date.

Caroline is hired as in-house counsel for Praecursoria, a company that is developing the future of cancer-fighting treatments that will save the lives of children and teens. The company has trials on several products. Caroline s work includes all the supporting legal documents required for patents, the FDA, and patients.

Brandon, a retired football player now in charge of his nonprofit, Almost Home, fosters siblings to keep them together until adopted. Recent changes to the law will determine if he will be able to stay open without major, costly changes. After many years of being close friends with Caroline, he is ready to take the next step. She is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. They have begun to date, rather than spend time together as dear friends. Unknown to Caroline, Brandon invested in Praecursoria as part of his portfolio to help support himself and Almost Home. When she found out, Caroline could not share her work challenges with him as it could be misconstrued as insider trading.

Caroline is navigating her way through the scientific aspects of the company and drug trials, and it is not as cut and dried as in law school. Quentin, the CEO, and Samson, the chief science officer, are intent on getting the drugs to save young patients. Following the legal established guidelines is not their priority. Anna, Brandon s cousin, is the doctor in charge the trial on one of his foster children, Bethany, whose leukemia returned with a vengeance. This trial is her last chance at recovery. There is a boy who may have special cells similar to those found only one other time in in studies. He is also going to die unless they can start the trial.

Something is wrong and Caroline is at a loss. The company is pressuring her to do what goes against her ethics. Anna has questions about trial data and infusions being supplied from Praecursoria that do not match what she has been told. Bethany is dying, even with the cutting-edge treatment that her body should not be rejecting. And people associated with the lab and hospital begin dying mysteriously.

I love these two deeply wounded people, Caroline and Brandon! They are examples of what God can do with surrendered lives. Brandon *lived with the permanent limp of an orphan who struggled to let anyone other than Caroline close*. A similar description could be made of Caroline. They have solid friendships with people who are mutually encouraging, even though neither are used to asking for help.

I was captivated throughout this heart-pounding novel. It is an excellent example of lives being testimonies of the God they believe in. Caroline and Brandon are a couple whose success I want, and their romance does not overwhelm the drama. I had a good idea what was behind the deaths but was also surprised at some of the outcome. The end came quickly and was very satisfactory. I highly recommend this novel to those who appreciate Christian medical - legal - suspense novels with sweet romance.

From a thankful heart: I received an eARC of this novel from the publisher, Celebrate Lit, and NetGalley, and this is my honest review.

This book will grab you and not let go until the final page is turner, and then it will linger long after.

We age given a lot of suspense, a little sweet romance, and a feeling of hope for survival of children, and yet people are dying.

Our young lawyer, Carolyn Brass, seems excited to be entering a new job after the death of the judge she had been working for, now she is working at a research lab that is offering hope where there seems to be none.

She is now in a relationship with retired football star, Brandon Lancaster, who's heart is filled with helping foster children. He is devoting his life to helping them with the hope of finding them new homes, but he has a thing for Carolyn.

When one of the deaths hit close to home for Brandon, you begin to feel that they are both in danger, and the end you wonder whom will survive, and will the culprit be found? Why? You will quickly be turning the pages for answers!

Another great read, you don't want to miss!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

Another outstanding offering from master romantic-legal-thriller storyteller Cara Putman. Having read the first three books in the Hidden Justice series, I was looking forward to reading this book with high expectations. I have to say it exceeded my expectations! This narrative is an unputdownable blend of suspense, romance, and faith. The engaging characters are likable and realistic. The twists and turns of the plot keep you guessing. The medical aspect of the story is fascinating and reflects extensive research. The foster care strand of the story is emotional, heartwarming, and a bit heart-wrenching. The faith element affirms the spiritual truths of hope and reliance on God in the midst of hard and trying circumstances. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

I received a copy of this book in e-book form from the publisher via netgalley but am under no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Caroline Bragg has just gotten a new job as legal counsel for Praecursoria, an experimental research company. The company wishes to be the first with cutting edge, life saving technology whose clients are children with cancer. They hired Caroline to make sure everything is done legally, although...she soon discovers things may not be so legal, after all. Company employees are dying. One, she witnessed.

Her now boyfriend, Brandon, owns a group home for children in the foster care system that allows children from the same family to stay together. Brandon has heavily invested in Praecursoria, which means Caroline cannot discuss work and her concerns with him as she is very careful to avoid 'insider trading.' This creates a rift between them, as he knows she's holding back from him. As her friend told her, they should have other things to discuss other than work. Good advice!

Brandon is having his own problems with Almost Home. It's so difficult to keep up with all the regulations placed on them. One set of his house parents are considering moving as they need financial security. Brandon is determined to make this work.

The story was high action and heart thumping at times. For me, it failed to have the element of 'believeability' as I believed Caroline to be a very intelligent woman, yet knowing some solid facts, she didn't behave very smart. Her flash drive was wiped, purse stolen, emails disappeared. It seems she would have put the flash drive in a safe place, knowing the work place wasn't safe at all. She confided in two men in the work place when she should have been looking at everyone as the possible murderer.

I was given an advanced copy by the publisher, Thomas Nelson and Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
