Starting my teen years in the early 1970s, I was confused about what it truly means to be a woman as God planned. The women around me were unduly influenced by the failed "Equal Rights Amendment" and other cultural phenomenons of the time. I only saw how to be feminist, rather than embracing being female.

Elisabeth Elliot writes about God's intentions for women. I learned that being a woman - and being feminine - is not about being weak, but being strong and confident. I believe that women have lived for so long listening to cultural messages that we need to be like men that we don't know how to be content as women - how to embrace being female.

The short book was written for Elisabeth's daughter in preparation for marriage. It is about being a wife, but also encompasses how to be a whole woman in any season of life.

Elisabeth writes with such love and joy and peace that it is contagious. This book far exceeded my expectations.

Review: This is a fantastic book for any woman to read. I loved the humble and godly advice and wisdom that Ms. Elliot possess. She is a favorite of mine. I love how she breaks down the culture and the call on a woman who belongs to Christ. This is must read for me yearly. I need the guidance of woman who have walked the hard steps of this world and kept on going with Christ's help and guidance. I believe this book is just as relevant today as it was when she first wrote it. Books like this are disappearing from the Woman's section of Christian bookstores.

I purchased this book for my daughter to use as a devotional during her time of engagement. The book was written by a mother to her daughter during the daughter's engagement. I read it before I passed it on to my daughter and was greatly blessed myself. The short, easy to read chapters are perfect to read one a day. The messages were reminders to me of my role as wife and I feel the words of wisdom will bless my daughter as she becomes a wife soon.

My mother owned this book. She had it in a box of books she was thinking of giving away. I remember taking this book from the box (as well as a few others), and after I read it I was shocked my mother wanted to give it away. This book was a treasure among treasures indeed. The letters Elizabeth wrote to her daughter helped me to grow as a young lady in the Lord. So, I recommend this to all God fearing women. Ladies use this book to better yourselves and teach the other young God fearing women you know.
