Melissa LGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5The Legend of Obadiah Wilder: The Glorious Defeat of the Dickenson GangAugust 31, 2015Melissa LGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Erica Vetsch gives us this quick read as a history into Ben Wilders past as a prequel to her series The Cactus Creek Challenge. In the prequel, Ben is a boy of 10 years and his father, a Civil War Veteran (a Yankee veteran specifically), is the Sheriff of Cactus Creek.
When an outlaw is shot and arrested by Obadiah for murder, the people of Cactus Creek run scared, all except for Obadiah Wilder. A God-fearing man who stands by truth and his word given to keep the town safe, Obadiah meet the outlaws family in the middle of the street alone.
With odds against him, and a child taken hostage, Obadiah stands firm. At what cost?
Ben Wilders story continues in the Cactus Creek Challenge in which we will discover if his fathers honor, integrity, and stoic presence are traits he will also hold dear to himself.
The Cactus Creek Challenge, Ben Wilders own story, is now available.
Helen MAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Great western short storyJune 27, 2015Helen MAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Legend of Obadiah Wilder is Obadiah's story of how he took down the Dickenson Gang by himself when he was the sheriff in a small town in Texas. The Dickenson gang was wanted in Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Obadiah's yongest son, Ben, enjoyed spending time in the jail looking at wanted posters and he was the one to identify Len Dickenson. When Obadiah retires Ben is chosen to take his place as the new sheriff.
This ebook is a short story that introduces us to the characters in Erica Vetsch's The Cactus Creek Challenge. I enjoyed reading this short story and look forward to reading the book. It is perfect to pick up and read in one evening. It reminded me of the westerns we use to watched on TV.
Trixi5 Stars Out Of 5Sheriff Obediah Wilder faces down the Notorious Dickerson gang brothers!June 24, 2015TrixiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Little Ben Wilder has some mighty big boots to fill if he is going to follow in his daddy Obediah's steps to be sheriff someday! As he watches him take care of the town of Cactus Creek, he couldn't be more proud of his daddy catching one of those notorious Dickerson Gang brothers. And you should see him shoot that gun of his, why little Ben sure enough thinks the world of him!
This is a fast paced, short western story that is an excellent prequel of Erica's soon to be released book "Cactus Creek Challenge". It starts out as if reading a newspaper clipping of the day Obediah pinned that sheriffs badge on his chest & faced down the Dickerson Gang. The story pulled me right smack into the middle of Cactus Creek when a saloon girl gets shot and Obediah goes to serve justice to the killer. It was plumb packed with plenty of action and well-rounded characters that I can't wait to learn more about in her full length book! You ought to pick up this little gem of a story for yourself, you won't want to miss this or her "Cactus Creek Challenge" when it comes out!
j mcnutt5 Stars Out Of 5Exciting short StoryJune 22, 2015j mcnuttQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I loved the character of Obadiah ! a hero with strong morals and not afraid to show them, an upstanding family man, and an honest sheriff to his town of Catus Creek, who was not willing to avoid trouble when it threatened his town and family.
I grew up watching Western 's and never lost my love for them.
'who wouldn't love a hero and a great family man!
This book is the prelude to Catus Creek where Obadiah's son Ben carries on his Dad's legacy
Wonderful characters and good story , Look forward to the next book !,
