MandyAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent note-taking BibleNovember 11, 2019MandyAge: 35-44Gender: femaleI purchased this Bible for my retreats with the Lord so I could write reflections, cross-references, themes, and prayers in the margins and have used it for one four-hour retreat as well as for frequent reading. I've owned it for a couple of weeks.
The print is dark and clear and looks 9 pt. Much easier for me to read than past note-taking Bibles with 8 pt or 7 pt font. The ghosting is not distracting for me and doesn't interfere with reading.
The paper is smooth and takes the ink very well. I use 005 tip markers of different colors. The ink does not bleed through and shows up clearly on the page. I wrote on both sides of the pages with no problems reading what I wrote or with smudging or bleed-through.
There is a lot of room for taking notes with extra space in the concordance to write notes and include definitions of the words. The margins are lined with faint lines that one can use or ignore as one chooses.
The fact that this Bible does have a concordance is unusual. Most note-taking/journaling Bibles I own don't include this feature.
There are very nicely-printed color maps in the back that are useful for study.
The leather is genuine leather, thick but soft and flexible. It smells great! The strap does not get in the way and does function to keep the Bible closed. The leather is designed to look worn so it does scuff easily, but that is by design.
The Bible is sewn and has an edge-lined rather than a paste-off binding. It feels and looks to be very sturdy. I believe it will last a long time. The liner seems to be synthetic.
There are two lengthy ribbon markers of two different colors.
This is a large Bible. The size is necessary in order for the print size and space for note-taking and paper thickness.
There are many pages in the front for recording family trees and other things. I don't plan to use these and could do without them. Others may want them, however.
Summary: I highly recommend this Bible and believe the price to be reasonable for the quality. The leather is good-quality, the paper is excellent, the print and binding are well-executed. The layout is very useful for note-taking. If you a looking for a note-taking/journaling Bible that is readable as well as useful for writing notes, this is a great choice. I expect to use mine for many years.
Kevin Grady5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent BibleNovember 1, 2019Kevin GradyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5First of all, the person who wrote a review about the Leather being fake, is WRONG. I have a friend who got the real leather - it is Cowhide by the way from Holman's rep. It is excellent and floppy and smells great. Now I have the Leathertouch with the feather on it. This is better then the previous Notetaker's Bible. For one the paper is better, it is thicker and a cream color. The font is larger and darker. It is black letter, and there are lines next to the single column text. Plenty of room to write and there is also in the back of the books a place for key verses to put there. There are some blank pages between some of the books, and the concordance has the same margins and lines as the text. I do video reviews of Bibles on the Gospel According To Music on Youtube and this guy told me he plans on writing the Greek and Hebrews next to the English words. That is a pretty good idea. There are also 8 maps in the back. The Leather touch is nice and gives a classic look. It is a bit wider then a normal Bible but that is because of the wide margin. If you are someone who likes to write in your Bible, this is a great Bible as well as the great translation the CSB. - I was provided this Bible for an honest review from Holman. But I do plan on buy the Leather version soon.
Gwen2 Stars Out Of 5genuine vs imitation leatherSeptember 2, 2019Gwenthe title says genuine leather, which would indicate it's real leather right? which would make for a good standing bible. Although below it says imitation leather, or leather like, pretty much fake leather. nothing compared to genuine leather in my opinion, which makes me question the picture posted and whether or not this is actually worth buying. if it was "leather-like" and not real leather or even bonded leather, it should be cheaper.
