I decided for the new school year that I wanted to switch language curriculums for my girls. This is a great book. I love the reading books that go with it. Looking forward to an all in one book for my twins. I am planning to take the books to an office store and having them spiral binded if possible.

Okay, but not a good fit for us

While this has not been a good fit for us, I wanted to love it. I like the concept of combining reading, spelling, cursive, grammar, etc. Copy work is part of this course. Each lesson seems geared toward one week. It is up to the teacher to choose how much is covered on a particular day. I felt some days there was just too much to cover. Maybe I wasn't splitting it up well. I felt the grammar rules were moving along too quickly. The best fit for us out of this book was the cursive handwriting. We only stuck with this for about two months before abandoning it.

I like the progression of what the students are expected to write. My son doesn't like writing but this course requires that he write just a little bit each week. It seems like just enough writing to give him the practice he needs to build his confidence but not so much that he hates it.

It was a hard transition from public to homeschool and my 2nd grader was really restless with all the subjects we were trying to cover this year. So when a friend loaned me her LLATL teacher book to check out, I was sold! I loved how pressure free it is at working with your child where they are at instead of forcing them to finish every page or activity to complete the whole book. As a parent, I felt freed to really engage with my child and not be tethered to a check list of thing we need to complete! My child now is excited to start the new book next year, he has even started a few pages!
