Here’s an accessible reference that aids personal Bible study or Sunday school preparation—the Layman’s Bible Commentary, reference for the everyday Christian, not the scholar! This 12-volume set covers all 66 Bible books—from Genesis to Revelation—providing section-by-section commentary on the flow and theme of each book, as well as historical and literary context for each. Major interpretations are presented for controversial passages and topics. Puzzling passages and Bible practices are explained, and charts and diagrams further aid your understanding. And “Take It Home” segments provide a practical application for each passage.

He is the author of Illustrated Guide to Bible Battles as well as several commentaries in the Laymans Bible Commentary series. He is married to the love of his life, Heather, and has four children.
sharmaine4 Stars Out Of 5best suited for the everyday christianMarch 27, 2016sharmaineQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I did read some of the reviews and it seems they expected much more than the set was designed for. I am a young Christian and I find it gives me what I need. If I feel prompted to look more deeply, then I use other sources for research and study. I would recommend this to someone who is new to Bible study. If you have a theology or divinity degree, don't waste your money. It will be better spent on something like the Pulpit Commentary.

If you're internet savvy, you'd get much more out of the Matthew Henry Commentary or some other commentary that is free online. It's sooo basic.
