Bill Tell believes that freedom is at the heart of the gospel. He says it is why he wrote Lay It Down. I have to agree with him. Jesus came to give us freedom from all the sin that brings us into bondage. He came to give us Himself and show us a life of true freedom.

I thoroughly enjoy a book filled with Scripture. I think it brings us to the right mindset and helps our hearts along when we read books, to actually be filled with truth. Truth is a part of being free, no?

I originally got this book because I wanted to see how the other authors in The Navigators wrote. It seems to me that he writes just as wonderfully as the others that I have read books from. Bill Tells heart really seems to be sincere in wanting to share the truth of the gospel with the world. I think that is quite admirable.

If you are looking for a new start to this new year and wanting to start off on the right foot, I think this book would be a good option.

Living in the Freedom of the Gospel

    By Bill Tell

This book is very enlightening and encouraging book about the truth of the Gospel. Bill Tell share his own personal experience of being burnt-out and the struggles of coming to the reality and truth of the Gospel. He opens the door to many area that we all may have or are now struggling with in our beliefs and walk with Christ.

He divides his book into three sections,

    God views me differently.

    God makes me different.

    God relates to me differently.

Each section contains a number of chapters that help to understand what God is saying through the Gospel. Bill uses simple language that is very easy to understand and will give a new look to some things that we have learned in the past. Bill shares that some things may have been taught to us wrong, things like how we can receive Christ and how we get to Heaven, etc. This book can help explain the true Gospel message and relieve unnecessary stress that we deal with in trying to understand what God has for us and offers us.

Bill Tell has served with The Navigators, an international ministry dedicated to evangelism and discipleship. He has taught Christians throughout the USA.

I received this book free from Tyndale Blog Network Review Program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255

"Lay It Down" by Bill Tell is a good title for anyone needing encouragement to remember that we have access to and approval by God through Jesus Christ and not our works. Admittingly, I have been guilty in the past (until the Lord showed me the truth!) of believing that the better Christian I am (good behavior, intense church involvement, etc.) would somehow earn God's approval - a sick theology! Unfortunately, many people seem to still suffer from this mentality.

The book is around 190 pages and covers such topics as:

    1. The Law reveals our unacceptability to God through fleshly effort and can be used to lead us to faith in Christ, thereby, showing us approved by God.

    2. Definition of theological terms (justification, propitiation) and what part they play in our acceptability to God through Jesus Christ.

    3. Obeying God does not let to being more acceptable to Him, but does result in more joy in our relationship with Him.

    4. When we are saved, God sees us as saints instead of sinners.

    5. Many other aspects of our relationship with God once we are accepted through Jesus Christ.

A good read - good narrative, flows freely from topic to topic, and good encouragement. Read, enjoy, and realize and be reminded of who you are in Jesus Christ!
