Jennifer M3 Stars Out Of 5Launch Your DreamsSeptember 9, 2017Jennifer MQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3Launch Your Dream, by Dale Partridge, bills itself as a 30-day, step-by-step plan for preparing, launching, and growing your own business. And that's what it is... kind of.
I had mixed feelings about this book. On the positive side, it was written and organized well. It was easy to read, with nice short chapters, and his writing style was warm and conversational. There were some good actionable steps to take, and some generally helpful business advice. It also went into such areas as creating your mission statement, conducting market analysis, and navigating your social media presence.
The problem I had was that if you've read any sort of book in this genre before, it really didn't contain anything new. I was actually excited to read it, but felt a little bit let down. It was fine, and it was motivating in the way that a polished motivational speaker is motivating, but it didn't feel like it had a lot of substance. At times, it also just felt like an advertisement for his website (and its accompanying paid consulting course).
Dale Partridge has built a very successful and lucrative business for himself, so he is clearly doing something right. But this book - largely for reasons I can't really put my finger on - just felt a little "off" for me.

Milk Donor MamaOhioAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good OverviewMay 28, 2017Milk Donor MamaOhioAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Launch Your Dream: A 30-day Plan for Turning Your Passion Into Your Profession is a self-help and business advice guide by Dale Partridge. This book provides you with a detailed guideline for founding a new business.
This book is designed for an entrepreneur who has a good idea but maybe does not have a lot of startup money or experience with owning or operating a business. The book includes details of dealing with uncertainty, staying disciplined, developing your mission, values and vision and why you need a business plan.
The author also explores how to keep customers satisfied. The book is a nice starter, but it does not go into depth on any single area that is covered. You would need separate books for each of those.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

Around 200 pages, the book addresses such topics as:
1. Determine what your passion is (something that you love enough to suffer for).
2. 3 steps to help you deal with the uncertainty of launching your dream.
3. The importance of discipline.
4. 4 characteristics of good ideas that enable your success.
5. Mission, values, and vision need to be foundational for a business's success.
6. The importance of developing a business plan.
7. Suggested structure for making a business plan.
8. Focusing on your company's "why" instead of the "what" or "how" will connect your personal and professional beliefs.
9. 5 principles for satisfying customers.
Very readable, the title smoothly transitions from topic to topic and contains valuable information and principles for anyone looking to launch a business sometime. Good read. I was given a review copy by BookLook Bloggers in exchange for a fair review.
Elise5 Stars Out Of 5Very PracticalMay 19, 2017EliseQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was excited to get my hands on this book because I have followed the author, Dale Partridge, on Instagram for about a year. I like how he speaks truth in a way that isn't alienating while still being challenging. I don't know much about his business background, but apparently, he is the founder of a very successful website called StartupCamp.com (and other businesses).
In this book, Partridge breaks down the essence of his acclaimed startup program into this book - what claims to be a hyper productive, 30 day journey for readers looking to follow their passions and realize their dreams. The structure of the book is very practical, and I found it inspiring to look through, not as overwhelming as I expected to feel after reading the synopsis. Each chapter is a day's reading and then also action steps/things to think through. The beginning of the chapter lists out the estimated reading time to break down the time for that day's material for the typical busy person. I greatly appreciated knowing what I was getting into for the day.
Having just received the book, I obviously haven't worked through it yet. I've flipped throughout the chapters and read snippets from various chapters. His advice seems quite practical and thought-provoking, designed to tailor the day's reading/action to your own business idea. I can't wait to keep reading the book!
