Language Lessons for a Living Education 1 uses a story-based approach to develop oral and written communication skills in your young student. A blend of stories, poems, Scripture, picture study, copywork, oral narration provide gentle, Charlotte Mason-style instruction in phonics, reading, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. Designed to follow Kindergarten phonics instruction such as Master Books’ Foundation Phonics or another phonics course that teaches CVC and beginning sight words, this Grade 1 single-semester program covers the basics of reading, writing words and then sentences, creating their own dictionary, and more.
