Satan doesn't usually hit us with an all-out frontal attack. It's the subtle landmines that do the most damage. They're hidden just below life's surface, and at the slightest misstep-BOOM! Suddenly you find yourself flown right off the path, feeling separated from God and His blessings, humiliated, estranged from the love and respect of friends and family.
Dr. Charles Stanley addresses nine main landmines that every Christian needs to be able to identify:
- Jealousy and Envy
Life may be a minefield, but that doesn't mean you have to live in fear. Dr. Stanley spells out the biblical principles for avoiding and defusing each of these landmines. In the midst of spiritual warfare, this book is a call to live in the strong peace of God.
Dr. Charles Stanley is the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, where he has served for more than 40 years. He is a New York Times bestselling author who has written more than 60 books, including the bestselling devotional Every Day in His Presence. Dr. Stanley is the founder of In Touch Ministries. The In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley program is transmitted throughout the world on more than 1,200 radio outlets and 130 television stations/networks, and in language projects in more than 50 languages. The award-winning In Touch devotional magazine is printed in four languages with more than 12 million copies each year. Dr. Stanleys goal is best represented by Acts 20:24: "Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesusthe work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love." This is because, as he says, "It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes peoples lives."

Rebecca5 Stars Out Of 5Overcome temptation!October 4, 2011RebeccaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Landmines is a helpful book on overcoming our persistent habitual sins. Everybody has weaknesses and this book from Dr. Stanley covers common ones. He shows us that even though we aren't focused on spiritual warfare with Satan, we are to be aware of his traps against us. Sins and the route out are covered in each chapter. This book has an outlook on temptation that reveals the way out. I highly recommend Dr. Stanley for being such a positive preacher of the Word!

I heard that many times throughout this book! I have used this book in times that I recognize I'm falling down. I have used it when I need to understand someone else's actions.
