This traditional history and geography program from Landmark's Freedom Baptist Curriculum (LFBC) provides students with a study of the world and its people.
Written from a conservative Christian perspective, this curriculum approaches history as revealing the sovereignty of God in the affairs of men. This Grade 4 History curriculum focuses on the study of the fifty-states. Two textbooks are included, one for each semester. Each week includes five lessons; the first is a set of vocabulary words and a text selection for students to read and use to complete fill-in-the-blank sentences. The second lesson features another text to read with comprehension questions. Lesson 3 features map work or geography-based questions, Lesson 4 includes multiple choice questions and a Scripture memory component, and Lesson 5 is the weekly test. Four review weeks are also integrated.
Scripture from the KJV (Authorized, 1611) Bible. Books are softcover, non-reproducible and consumable.

LisaM53052 Stars Out Of 5January 31, 2009LisaM5305This is my first experience w/ LFBC materials, and when I received this set I really wanted to love it. My son liked that he could basically do it himself. I liked how economical the complete set was as well as the simple, straight-forward layout. We have been using it for about 3 weeks now, and let's just say the honeymoon is fading. There are lots of typos and just plain mistakes, and this is only in the first 3 weeks of material! This is frustrating for both me and my son. For instance, your student might answer a question correctly in the workbook, but then the wrong answer is given in the key, so you count it wrong unless you are really paying attention and go back through the material yourself. Also, on the quizzes, your student is supposed to label 5 or so cities/rivers/etc. on the map of the state, but there could be 8 or more blank dots on the state. My son is so confused by this, and I am baffled as to why they would do that. I am hoping it is just another mistake, because if they do it that way on purpose to try to trip the child up, that's just creepy. I mean come on, this is 4th grade. A time when kids are still supposed to be loving learning rather than having all the fun sucked out by endless quizzing and trick questions. I don't like this set and don't think we will be using it much longer. We will either move on to Bob Jones History 4 or just do unit studies. Our short experience w/ LFBC has been a frustrating waste of time, and I don't think I'll be buying any more of their materials.
