Before she stole healing by touching the hem of his garment . . .
Elianna is a young girl crushed by guilt. After her only brother is killed while in her care, Elianna tries to earn forgiveness by working for her fathers textile trade and caring for her family. When another tragedy places Elianna in sole charge of the business, her talent for design brings enormous success, but never the absolution she longs for. As her world unravels, she breaks off her betrothal to the only man she will ever love. Then illness strikes, isolating Elianna from everyone, stripping everything she has left.
No physician can cure her. No end is in sight. Until she hears whispers of a man whose mere touch can heal. After so many years of suffering and disappointment, is it possible that one man could redeem the wounds of body . . . and soul?
Heartache and healing blend beautifully in this gem among Christian fiction.
Afshars elegant evocation of biblical life will keep [readers] spellbound. An excellent choice for fans of Francine Riverss historical fiction, and those who read for character.
Fans of Biblical fiction will enjoy an absorbing and well-researched chariot ride.
Top Pick review In perhaps her best novel to date, Afshar . . . grants a familiar character not only a name, but also a poignant history to which many modern readers can relate. The wit, the romance, and the humanity make [this] uplifting as well as soul-touching.

Author Tessa Afshar has given her a name, Elianna, which means My God has Favored Me. Eliannas life is anything but favored. She struggles with guilt and grief and just when life becomes unbearable she finds the answer. Will she ignore all rules and touch the hem of the man Jesus that shes heard can heal? Elianna is fearful yet bold. I enjoy Biblical fiction as it breathes life into stories in a new way. Author Tessa Afshar has done her research and added only to the story to intensify what is written in Gods Word. This is a new-to-me author, and I look forward to reading more of her books.
EmilyAnne285 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful Biblical FictionSeptember 28, 2016EmilyAnne28Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When her brother dies in an accident while under her care, Elianna, her father, and her community blame her. Her family is crushed by grief, and Elianna, by guilt. Yet, she is the one person strong enough to keep the family business going and her family from starving. But when tragedy after tragedy strikes her family, will Elianna finally turn to God to healing her hurts, both inside and out?
Land of Silence by Tessa Afshar was amazing in so many ways. In it, Tessa Afshar broke away from writing Old Testament biblical fiction and instead wrote about a woman the Bible tells little about: the woman with the bleeding disorder of twelve years that Jesus healed, whom Jesus called daughter. To a woman whose own father wouldnt forgive her, what words those must have been!
Land of Silence is the story of a woman who goes through all kinds of pain and sufferinginternal, monetarily, physical, romantic. My heart ached for her! As someone who has close friends going through un-diagnosable (or curable?) health problems, I had a glimpse of the kind of pain she was experiencing with the bleeding disease, but that was just one of the problems she was facing. The author drew her so realistically and painfully that it hurt to read at times. But all the pain was worth it to see the beautiful ending. It was glorious and inspiring, and it made the words Jesus spoke to the woman that much more meaningful, having seen all the real woman might have suffered. Oh, and that reminds me! Lydia makes a cameo appearance. And the love interest was one of the most amazing young men I have read about yet. Truly an inspiration.
I really loved this book and would recommend it to those who enjoy inspirational, biblical fiction.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tessa Afshar has done a superb job in writing this story of the woman in the Bible with a blood issue who touched the hem of Jesus's garment and was healed. What a talented author. The characters are well described people of faith and determination. Elianna's story will inspire you. I recommend this book. I'm sure you will enjoy it as I did. A hard book to put down.
Young Elianna is grief stricken and blames herself for her brother's death. She feels guilt and condemnation. Trying to be a good daughter she takes on the task of running her father's textile business to gain his love and acceptance.
After years of bleeding and uncleanness she is an outcast of her Jewish society After tying every medical option and treatment available and depleting her funds there has been no cure for her.
She hears about Jesus a prophet from Nazarus who is healing people with just a touch and words to bring new life, salvation and forgiveness. She feels if she can just get close enough to touch the hem of His garment she will be healed.
There is so much more to this story. This is a book you won't to miss.
