Gretchen Garrison5 Stars Out Of 5from friends to moreJuly 27, 2024Gretchen GarrisonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Cole and Laila Are Just Friends: A Love Story. And while people stood in his space, attempting to come up with nice things to say, he kept his eye on the people who mattered and noticed that no matter how engaged in conversation they were or how focused elsewhere they seemed, they always had an eye on him. And then there was Laila. His lifelong best friend was an eternal optimist and the sunniest person he had ever met, but she was struggling today. (quote from the book)
Cole and Laila have been best friends forever. Other friends have pushed them toward more, but so far they have resisted. But when life falls apart for Cole, Laila tries to help him find a new start. Is there hope for a new beginning around the corner
This book is perfect for anyone who loves best friends to more stories as well as the pop culture part of New York City. At times, I personally wished that there were would have been more about experiencing New York itself instead of the famous people of New York. I am not a fan girl, so that part did not mean as much to me.
The book is connected to Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other, and I would recommend reading that book first. Cole and Laila are both such likable characters. I did enjoy this book and am glad I could read it through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. 4.5 stars -
Reenie5 Stars Out Of 5friends to more tropeJune 24, 2024ReenieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Cole and Laila Are Just Friends: A Love Story. It's rare to find a story where the characters are a little older, in this case around 40. It's refreshing. I also enjoyed seeing Cole and Laila's amazing friendship although it was a little hard to believe that they hadn't considered dating each other at some point in all those years.
The characters are memorable. It was fun seeing Brynn and Sebastian again. I like the quirky characters like the pta ladies. Small towns are amazing and I hope there'll be more stories in Adelaide Springs.
This story is a lot of fun and I'd recommend it. Thank you to Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own. -
Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5This Book Made Me So Happy!June 17, 2024Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Cole and Laila Are Just Friends: A Love Story.Oh my goodness! I loved this adorable story! Cole and Laila have this amazing connection and as I began listening to this novel, I wondered how things would change for them. And I simply loved the way the author handled their relationship both as friends and then as something potentially more. I am not kidding when I say that the moments where they begin to move into a possible romantic relationship are so wonderfully swoony and sweet all at the same time, because these two mean so much to each other already.
The story is packed with such fun moments around New York City. The sites they visited from famous romcom movies makes me want to go on my own tour doing the same thing. And even though there are so many fun and silly moments that Cole and Laila share, there are many deep and heartfelt moments, too.
This book comes after Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other and I definitely think that this story is even better having read the other book first, however, it is easily enjoyed as a stand alone, too. I listened to the audio book version and the dual narrators did a fabulous job with the voices.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. -
Candicervaldez5 Stars Out Of 5Loved it!June 4, 2024CandicervaldezQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Cole and Laila Are Just Friends: A Love Story.All. The. Feels. Once again, Bethany Turner has written a love story that sucked me from the first chapter and I couldn't put it down. I loved the chemistry between the two characters and the way they loved each other and put each other first. The only negative I would say is how can they not see that they were meant for each other? Loved this book and can't wait to read the next one by this author.

VVV5 Stars Out Of 5Great Characters! Friends-to-MoreJune 1, 2024VVVQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Cole and Laila Are Just Friends: A Love Story.Cole and Laila were just friends but what amazing friends they were! The author of this wonderful friends-to-more romance story took a familiar trope and gave it a twist to make it fresh and, at times, unpredictable. It was a real pageturner! I was very moved by the predicament that Cole and Laila faced and it took me through all the emotions; I even shed some tears at one point but mostly I was enchanted over the beauty of the wonderful relationship the two friends had created. This book is part of a series and it was fun to get updates on other beloved characters but it is easily read as a standalone. Highest recommendation! I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.
