Publisher's Description

It's easy to pray for others' needs. If God takes a long time in answering--or answers with a no--it's easier to take. Far more difficult is focusing on your own needs, when sometimes you don't get the answers you want. What do you pray when life gets hard or even unbearable? When you lose a spouse or a child? When your health deteriorates? When your spiritual life seems barren? Linda Evans Shepherd knows what it's like to pray in the most dire of circumstances. She shows readers the how, what, and when of praying for themselves. As she takes readers through her own prayer journey and the stories of others, they will be encouraged and equipped to pray for themselves in any circumstance. They'll also find that whether or not God changes their circumstances, he will use prayer to change them.

A lot of Christians encounter at least one horrific situation in their lives that paralyzes them to the point that they dont know how or what to pray. This author takes the reader through a series of questions and answers to help us understand what exactly prayer is, what it is not and most importantly, why does God answer some prayers and seemingly not answers others. Although God does always answer his Childrens requests with a yes, no or wait. She also teaches us how we can trust God in these times.

The author includes lots of scripture as well as samples of prayers to help the reader along. This is a small book, only 200 pages. I believe this book would enhance any ones library and I would definitely recommend it.

I think we'd all admit that there is no shortage of needs to pray for/about, but at times we struggle with just how to do it. What do we say? How do we say it? What's the most effective approach? Are our prayers reaching beyond the ceiling to God's ears, or are they just empty words bouncing back at us and mocking our efforts?Author and speaker Linda Evans Shepherd has tackled this common topic in her practical yet poignant new book When You Don't Know What to Pray: How to Talk to God About Anything. Because Linda is herself a deeply committed woman of prayer, driven to that place by desperate circumstances and her abiding faith in a merciful God, her words ring true and her advice is solid. If you and/or someone you know struggle with effective prayer, consider getting a copy of this book for personal study--and get a copy (or two!) for someone else who needs it. Then watch and see what our faithful God will do!
