Publisher's Description

What if you knew all the moments of my past that I am not proud of? What if you really knew me, the messy parts that I’ve hoped to forget and worked hard to conceal? For so long, my greatest fear was what you might think of me if you only knew the whole story.

It’s exhausting, this guarding of our stories and struggles. Fear of being found out had caused me to hide—but I wasn’t just covering my flaws, I was unintentionally blocking the beauty of God’s grace. My journey to real freedom began when I quit running from my mess and started trusting Jesus to make something beautiful of it.

This book is that story. It’s stepping out of shame and insecurity into gospel freedom. It’s  letting God turn our failures and frailties into testimonies of His faithfulness. I’ve discovered that when we quit hiding, God gets the glory and we are able to fully embrace not only our relationship with Him, but also with one another.

Transparency brings freedom, and in every moment, we'll find that God can absolutely be trusted.

I have heard Jamie Ivey say numerous times that she believes that stories change the world. I believe that her story in this book undoubtedly holds that potential. However, it's not because of the things she's done, but what Jesus has done in her. Though the title "If You Only Knew" most likely originated from a place in her heart that felt something like "If you only knew the things in my past (or even current struggles), what would you think?" - I hope that readers will also come away from the book hearing, "If you only knew... that grace and freedom are available to you!!!"

This book reads like you are sitting down at a coffee shop with a dear friend and shines a powerful spotlight on Jesus and Gospel Truth in both Jamie's story and ours. I am so thankful for Jamie's obedience and vulnerability to "go first."

I love Jamie. This book sounds just like her. If you listen to the Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey you know what I mean. She clearly points to Jesus through and through all while share her struggles over the years. She doesn't hide or hold back her past. She even shares about current struggles she has as a follower of Jesus. Plus the book is pretty and doesn't have a dust jacket to mess with. (Small but an added bonus.) The book is a great read, only small but she is a first time author and in some places you can tell. Overall it is a worth reading.

i absolutely loved this book. Jamie is so vulnerable and believes so much in going first and sharing her story so that other women will also be encouraged to be vulnerable and share their story as well. She believes that Jesus is better than anything we could ever so wrong. I highly recommend this book!

Jamie Ivey invites you into community with her. You are immediately at ease, comfortable, and feel like your spending time with a dear friend. She vulnerably shares her past sin, struggles, and skewed thoughts. However, in her story, you see woven through and through Gods goodness, His presence, unfailing love, and redemptive power! You close the pages with courage to share your own story and are also ready to listen to someone willing to expose the good, bad, and ugly. All the while you remain confident that Jesus is better! Always better!

I highly recommend this as a must read for women. I think it would be especially helpful for those who mentor and disciple young women.

Ever since discovering the Happy Hour, I've thoroughly enjoyed Jamie Ivey. One of the things that I really appreciate and love about Jamie, is her were all in this together approach to life and her willingness to share her heart, even the parts that may not be so pretty. Thats exactly what shes done in her first book, If You Only Knew: My Unlikely, Unavoidable Story of Becoming Free as she takes her readers along for a journey throughout her life. Jamies approachable, conversational style makes you feel like youre sitting in a chair with coffee next to her or literally walking alongside her in her story. For anyone struggling with feelings of regret, shame and feeling unforgivable even by God, Jamie's story will have you saying 'me too' and 'yes, I am forgiven.'
