Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the 1611 King James Version Bible
For nearly 400 years, the Authorized Version of the Bible—popularly known as the King James Version—has been beloved for its majestic phrasing and stately cadences. No other book has so profoundly influenced our language and our theology.
Over time, however, the text has suffered subtle and occasionally troublesome alterations. This attractive edition preserves the original 1611 edition. Word for word and page for page, the text with its original marginal notes, preface ("The Translators to the Reader"), and other introductory material appear as they first did. The sole concession to modernity is a far more readable roman typeface set by 19th-century master printers. Elegantly bound with old-world quality craftsmanship, this is the perfect edition of the incomparable King James Version for study and for sheer enjoyment.
- The only word-for-word facsimile of the original 1611 Authorized Version on the market
- Handsome page design with clearer 19th-century type and decorative initials is convenient to read and reference
- The text is complete with the original preface and translators' notes. Alfred Pollard's classic essay on pre-1611 English translations and the history of the Authorized Version is also included

400th Anniversary Edition
For 400 years, the Authorized Version of the Bible--popularly known as the King James Version--has been beloved for its majestic phrasing and stately cadences. This edition preserves the original 1611 printing. Word for word and page for page, the text with its original marginal notes, preface, and other introductory material appears as it first did. The sole concession to modernity is a far more readable roman typeface set by nineteenth-century master printers. This special edition includes only the complete text of the Protestant canon.

AllisonOceanside, CAAge: 45-54Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Great gift for KJV Bible lovers and history buffs!June 10, 2017AllisonOceanside, CAAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As an amateur linguist, history lover, and daily reader of the KJV Bible, I find this reprint of the original 1611 Authorized Version an absolute treasure! It's fun to see how the English language has changed over the past 400+ years. If you're familiar with the current KJV, it's easy to read along with the older spellings.
This edition is the size of a typical best-seller hardcover book and has classic "Bible paper" pages. The margins on each page contain alternate word meanings (kind of like an Amplified Bible) as well as some parallel/reference verses. Each chapter has the first letter illuminated with a floral motif. This volume contains fascinating supplements about the 1611 edition's history.
An elegant dust jacket surrounds a brown, imitation-leather hardcover embossed with gold letters. The ribbon marker is a bronze/gold color. This beautiful, compact edition is very reasonably priced and highly recommended!
JeanRussell, PAAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful KJV Bible 1611July 21, 2015JeanRussell, PAAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love this King James Bible of 1611. I was so surprised to find that the old King James I grew up on for 66 years matches up perfectly except for some words that were spelled differently in 1611. Words like, bleffed became blessed; sonne became son; vnto became unto; foreuer became forever; Iesus became Jesus; Heauen became Heaven, etc.. It is not difficult to understand at all. I am most thankful to the printer for printing this exactly as it first appeared. I highly recommend this Bible to all. This was put together beautifully.
Michelle Saville5 Stars Out Of 5BeautifulAugust 24, 2014Michelle SavilleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is absolutely beautiful. I got this one since it is a copy of the 1611 bible but without the apocrypha as I did not require it. I have one with it in but it is about half an inch thicker, which I find I don't need. You still get the 1611 Bible plus extra information about the history of the Bible coming up to the King James Bible. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who wants a piece of history.

Pretty close to the Cambridge Edition we use today. When I hold this Bible I think of Wycliffe, Erasmus, Luther and Tyndale translating the Word of God.

I like knowing that I'm reading from the most accurate translation from the original texts. Thank you for making this both available and affordable.
