This study bible is perfect for anyone who is wanting to learn more about the Bible. While its important to remember that the study notes are written by humans and may contain some errors, overall it is very informative and accurate. The study notes are more conservative leaning which is exactly what I was looking for. The Bible came in perfect condition and looks wonderful. I use the Bible everyday and am very pleased with my purchase. I definitely have no regrets about this purchase.
If you are a disciple of Dallas Theological Seminary and her prophets, or if you embrace Zionism / Dispensationalism / Millennialism, or of you support the Civil Rights Movement in the USA, then this is the bible for you! If none of these private interpretations match yours, then you won't like this KJV bible edition. Why do publishers continue to produce study notes full of cunningly devised fables for the church today? There always seems to be the need to better clarify what the Holy Spirit said, as is the case with this bible. It will take some time to edit the notes so that an unsuspecting reader will not be led astray. (If I had wanted this kind of bias, I would been as well off with a 100 year old Scofield bible.) The mantova brown simulated leather cover is nice.
the reason why I love this Bible it help me to understand the scripture and the commentary it help me a lot. tow bad thing about this Bible i have to say is the pages is so thin it mite tier and I have a difficult time to fine a Bible cover
DISCLAIMER: I was provided a review copy free of charge from Holman publishers in exchange for writing this review. I was not required to write a positive one, only an honest one.
This is an astonishing study bible. From cover to cover it exudes quality of craftsmanship and ideal. It is the pure Cambridge edition which would excite the KJV purists, and the full colour is just amazing. It is the most stylish and colourful KJV bible on the market and the price is extraordinarily worth it. It's the KJV as I said so there's not much to about the translation that is not already known.
It has great notes and some very good articles. The material (the Mantova Brown Simulated leather feels very supple and looks great. The feels in hands is almost as when you pick it up you don't want to put it down. That was the first thing that caught my attention, the cover. Believe me if you want a KJV then this is it. Forget everything else and buy this one.
I gave mine to a new convert, he didn't have a bible for himself, so I begrudgingly (Lord I repent) gave away this one and he absolutely love the feel and texture and everything about the bible. Keep up the great work Holman.
I've had this Bible for about 6 months now, and so far I have enjoyed it. It's a good size to carry and read, so I have been using it for my daily reading.
The notes, from what I have seen so far, seem to be of reasonable depth, and sometimes alternate interpretations of a passage are presented. But as is always the case, the notes should be read with caution - I have seen at least one that caused me to raise an eyebrow. But in general, I've found the notes to be helpful.
The leather cover is very smooth. Mine has a black cover, and the page edges and stamping are silver, which adds to its uniqueness - most black bibles have gold page edges. It has two ribbon markers - one black and one light gray. The pages seem to be a little thicker than those of most Bibles.
When I first got the Bible, the pages were quite hard to separate. Patience and caution are in order when "breaking in" this Bible.
