This is not leather! The paper thin "top grain" is already peeling off after about one and a half months. It almost seems like some kind of sprayed on rubber or something. I like the rest of the bible but saying this is leather bound is ridiculous. I do not recommend this bible if you want genuine leather!

My neighbor needed a new Bible so I picked up this KJV genuine leather with index tabs. She loved the print size and the references. I looked it over before giving it away and wondered if the print size 13 would be a little bit better for me too. I found a slightly imperfect one for me and purchased it a few weeks later.

Now my edition was printed in Korea and silly me thought mine would have the same strength of paper. Sadly not true. My Pigma Micron pen markings soaked right through the Bible paper. That was unexpected. Gel highlighters did pretty good with little ghosting on the other side. Apparently not all Holman Bibles have the same weight of paper in each edition. How I wish they used 36 gsm paper like the higher quality Bible publishers do in Europe.

While the paper was white and good for reading it cannot handle more than pencil for notes in the margin.

The concordance, which has giant print is well spaced and has room to write in more additional notes.

Harmony of the Gospels, Appearances of Jesus after the Resurrection, Bible reading plans, and a Short History of the Bible are a few of the features in the back.

Additional lined paper in the back would be nice but it is not there. However, there are a few spaces to add your notes besides the margins.

I love the design of the Bible but I wish I had been more careful about using my wonderful Pigma Micron pens and tried them out in the back. Your experience may be different because your Bible may have better paper and been in a different printing batch.

In short it is a good Bible for reading. Holman KJV reference is good just not consistent with paper, and mine was not stitched around the edges like my other Holman KJV reference Bibles. Now we will see how long it takes before it is worn out. Happy reading.

The black leather touch is very soft and pliable. The KJV text retains the familiar British spellings. The print is crisp and generously sized for tired eyes, and yet the Bible is not overly large. I now have a few of these Holman giant print KJV Bibles in various bindings which I use for most of my preaching, teaching, and personal reading in various locations. A well-made product in the faithful and reliable King James Version.
