The NKJV is my favorite translation. And prior to the purchase of this bible, I also obtained the KJV, and NASB versions. So, I figured this would be a "slam-dunk". And for the most part, it is. The essence of this bible type remains the same as the aforementioned ones. However, I do agree with other reviewers opinions concerning the paper & ink quality. Though, not horrible, the quality of the NKJV version is not as good as the aforementioned KJV & NASB. The scripture index addition is ok, but it seems that as a result the overall paper/ink quality may have suffered in order to save room for more pages. I love the leather, and the overall build quality is great. This one will be my new daily driver. And despite the issue with paper/ink quality, I would highly recommend this bible to anyone.

I have the NASB version of this Study Bible, and it is fantastic except for the fact that my preferred translation is the NKJV. I joked that if they made it in the NKJV it would be my perfect Bible, and was so blessed when a friend bought it for me!

Unfortunately, it isn't exactly the same as the NASB, and the changes aren't all for the best.

    PROS:

    1. The concordance is an AMAZING 214 pages, triple column, the most I've ever seen in a Bible, big thumbs up to that!

    2. The layout and the font is clear, though font size is smaller, which is a shame.

    3. The Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries are a great tool and now the layout makes them much more understandable to us mere mortals who don't speak the original languages, adding greatly to study.

    4. The leather is beautiful.

    5. The whole study suite in one is a fantastic idea.

    CONS

    1. The paper is much thinner than previous version and there is significant shadowing from previous page's titles etc.

    2. The print is now paler and a smaller font, which is a shame because it used to be so easy to read. I don't need glasses but when I've read for a while my eyes get tired, and everyone I know always complain about font size whether 16 or 60, so that's a real negative.

    3. There is an added section at the back called Scripture Index, which is basically a list of scriptures and their corresponding cross-references, I don't see any real need for this as the references are within the Bible itself, and it has added about a quarter inch thickness and is also probably the reason for making the print font smaller.

    4. The bible itself is significantly bigger than the original wide margin version, It is both wider and thicker, and hence heavier and harder to handle if you have little hands like me.

    5. Finally, the one thing I loved was the limited number of notes in the original versions. Unfortunately, the new editor needed something to do and consequently seems to want to impose his interpretation of scriptures on the reader, and there are now lots of notes spoiling the layout, adding extra thickness and they appear to be far more liberal and leaning towards modern thinking than Zodhiates, who originally designed this Bible.

    To Conclude:

This is a great study aid but as we say in the UK, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" They had the perfect Bible format if they had just reproduced it in the NKJV and left everything else the same, (except the wonderful concordance) it really would have been the perfect Bible (imho) So, my advice, if you don't mind the NASB and you want bigger darker print especially, then get that in 2008 version. And to AMG - It wasn't broken all you had to do was use the NKJV, why did you mess with it? :(

It's still the best study Bible out there so I can't bring myself to take more than one star off but I couldn't fault the 2008 version.

Great Bible but Print too light

I think this is a wonderful Bible. I am so glad I purchased it and I was excited to see it in the NKJV. This Bible will be a tremendous help to me in opening up the rich meaning of the scriptures. I am enjoying the numbering system and have much good to say about it. The organization of the Bible is quite intuitive so that's great! The only thing that caused me to rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is the light print - darker print would earn it a solid 5 stars "Perfect Bible".

An excellent study bible the only problem I have is that the print ink is too light and is harder to read.
