Finally, a devotional that's not light as air and less filling than cotton candy. Besides being in the KJV, these devotionals readings are done by some great Christians of the past and some of today's. You'll enjoy, Spurgeon, Whitefield, Andrew Murray, Matthew Henry, George Muller and many others. These are truly soul searching, convicting writings. Not something to give you false assurance if you know you are not living the true Christian walk or whether you are truly born again. I am thoroughly enjoying these devotions as I trek through the Scriptures. Another appreciation is the amount of devotionals here. You will not find yourselves flipping ten or twenty pages for content. They are for the most part just pages apart. Plenty of sound considerations to digest as you read God's Word.
I got this as a Birthday gift for my mom, her face wace was like that of child with a new toy! Priceless!! Great quality, has reading plans, guidance, reference look ups & maps, just like I remember looking at as child in the very first bible I remember looking at.
(In case the notation isn't there, this review is of the Genuine Leather version, CBD Stock No: WW568363.)
I've used this Bible for several months now, and I cannot believe they could sell this high of a quality book for this low of a price.
I am unforgivingly tough in how I use this Bible. I hold it, twist it, squeeze it, crease it, and flip it, using it as my daily reader, in a manner as if it were a throw-away magazine. (I'm referring to the book as a whole, not to the individual pages, which I take great care to keep in unfolded, unwrinkled, flat condition.) It has held up perfectly, taking all of the abuse I can dish out. The binding and cover are as strong as the day I opened the box, showing no wear.
CBD's description is accurate and thorough, so there is no point to rehash this Bible's description. But I will add that the font style and spacing make for easy reading.
I did not buy it for the "devotionals," with which its pages are interspersed. Frankly, I anticipated stepping over blocks of syrupy-sweet, religious drivel. I'm happy to report that some of them have proven to be very well-written, thought-provoking, spiritually- and doctrinally-sound pieces. So, I no longer see them as pointless interjections, and I'll typically read them, as well as God's word.
The paper is just a tad more translucent than I'd like, so one can see the words on the opposite side of a page a little more readily than I'd like, but, that is this Bible's only weakness.
This Bible would be a bargain at twice its price. If you're looking for a leather-bound, personal-sized, daily reader, I STRONGLY recommend this one.
