Product Description

This is an entirely new setting of the Bible, published to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the King James Version but intended to become a staple of the Cambridge list for many years to come as a new and distinctive format. This particular edition is the first new Cambridge KJV reference Bible for over half a century and has been carefully designed for the modern era to meet an increasing demand for a more accessible format and comfortable reading size.
It is typeset in Lexicon No.1, a digital font designed for easy reading and with many similar characteristics to traditional hot-metal Bible typefaces, thus marrying the best of the old and the new. The print is black-letter throughout and the text is presented in paragraph (rather than traditional chapter and verse) style and in a single-column format. The notes and cross-references have been relocated to the outer margin, leaving the text relatively free and unencumbered.

Publisher's Description

This is an entirely new setting of the Bible, published to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the King James Version but intended to become a staple of the Cambridge list for many years to come as a new and distinctive format, across a range of versions.

These Bibles include maps and--instead of a conventional concordance and dictionary--a Reader's Companion which offers the key elements of those features in one place. They are offered in a range of superior binding styles--calf split leather, top-grain calfskin, and edge-lined goatskin.

I was looking for the best possible bible I could get. I bought six of the nicest ones I could find. Three were some of the most expensive one could buy. The others were good only I wanted the best possible bible money could get. I became obsessed watching hours of You Tube videos for days. I now understand what the word bibloultery means. Making the physical bible an idol.

Goatskin, Lambskin, Calfskin and any other exotic cover one could buy was what I was looking for. Thinking the more expensive the cover the longest it would last. True expensive covers last longer only do they have to be supple or have the smoothest leather? What about the paper? Does it really make a difference if it's bible or indian paper, bible being thicker. Or gold or silver guilding? I think I got carried away. First the content and which version does the bible have is more important than anything else, not cosmetics.

I heard online this certain bible was the Rolls Royce of such a book. The bible is a book. Not jewelry or like a car. That's what I wanted a Ferrari or a jewel in the form of a bible. Talk about being a Pharisee. I was turning into one. Not good. Well bottem line. Yes good bibles are expensive and you usually get what you pay for. Only do your homework.

Get what you can honestly afford. Not buy several different bibles only to find out what you thought was the perfect bible like me. If you want my opinion from all my research and experience of owning one. I say my favorite is the Clarion. Well built and small enough to be comfortable yet not too small for the print to easily be read at 9 point font. And most important bold type print.

You read the bible with your eyes not your hands. The Clarion is one of the best bibles one could get. I know this because the first company that printed The King James Bible still does. Making Cambridge the most experienced experts in this field. The best possible bible at any price. The Clarion.

This is a superb Bible in almost every respect. The typeface and paragraph format make this the easiest to read Bible I have ever owned. The construction of this edition is a work of fine craftsmanship, done partly by hand, it lays flat no matter where you open it and the calfskin feels perfect when reading the Bible while holding it. My only caveat is the thinness of the paper, the reader must be careful and not turn the pages quickly. But even this quibble has a riposte, it makes the Bible lighter and therefore more readable in hand. As to the KJV text I feel I am not qualified to critique, I love it though and I think it was wise to have the preface from the 1611 edition, edited and compressed a bit in the 19th Century, included. If you want a KJV for at home or on the go pick this one, you will have a lifetime enjoying God's Word!

This beautiful Bible in the King James version is fantastic. The calf split leather is soft and has a wonderful, grainy texture. It is printed, and bound in the Netherlands, by skilled, and dedicated craftsmen that are proud of their work. I have the nkjv also in calf split leather that is also a beautiful copy of GODS Word., I also have a nasb version in goatskin. They are all clarion Bibles, and are all beautiful very well bound Bibles that I highly recommend to any one who wants a easy to hold and very comfortable to read copy of the precious Word of GOD. May HE Bless and Guide you in your study of the HOLY Scriptures

I've owned multiple King James Bibles, and this one is by far my favorite. Before I started reading the KJB I read the NIV and got used to it's single column layout. I prefer the readability of the single column layout as compared to the typical 2 column, as the flow is just so much better. I like that Cambridge has kept the dedicatory to King James and the section The Translators to the Reader that almost every other KJB leaves out. The leather binding is of top quality, the goatskin feels wonderful to hold. Since the goatskin is supple it folds in your hands easily which means holding it in your hands is much easier as you're not having to fight the stiffness of leather to keep it open.

Overall an outstanding reading Bible I recommend to everyone.

The paragraph organization in single column is useful.

The print job is excellent and the binding is neat and well done. It is delightful to have this carry size as I first obtained the hardback which is large.

My only compliant would be is that the paper is an ivory hue, and not bright white. Old eyes appreciate a very white background with distinctive black type. Most wouldn't notice.

The ink is applied evenly and there are not light pages where the pressman took a nap.
