Lets start off by stating that Alexander Scourby is a great narrator, perhaps the best there ever was for the KJV. However this disc set is a disgrace to his legacy.
First off they speeded up Scourby's voice. The voice of GOD in the Old Testament is very difficult to understand the words he is saying, I have to focus very intently and even then it's very tough, it's so bad that later in the bible when say JOB is talking with GOD, you can't make out the discussion as it sounds like GOD is Darth Vader merged with a bull frog. This makes the Old Testament almost unusable.
The New Testament is even worse, Mr. Scourby spends most of his time sounding like he's at the race track or an auctioneer trying to get through the sale as fast as possible, you combine the other normal speed voices and they sound out of sync, this can be very jarring.
CBD doesn't allow for refunds or exchanges for different items when it comes to CD's/DVDS or software. I had to put this item up on Ebay after only owning it for two days as it is so bad that I couldn't stomach having it around.
PS.....if you want drastically better audio bibles go with the "Word of Promise NKJV" as the Old Testament is beautiful, however for the New Testament I've found that the "Truth & Life Dramatized Audio New Testament" is the best set on the planet, sure it's marketed to Catholics as it uses the RSV-CE, but there is no more beautifully dramatized New Testament, it can almost bring you to tears. And for those that aren't KJV purists, I'd also suggest the NIV Bible Experience the one that came out in 2012, this is a very well done dramatization of a book most KJVO would snub their nose at, but what can you do when no one wants to put out a top quality KJV audio bible(I'm aware of several modern versions, but all of them have deficiencies. The fact is Hendrickson needs to remaster these Scourby bibles and get them up to date, because the bar of excellence has been set much higher in recent times.
