This is a great little devotional book that is great for families. We haven't tried it yet, our little is just a little too young. I've pulled several ideas, thoughts, phrases from this book, but haven't committedto doing the full devotional yet. I really enjoyed the beginning section of the book where he explains the importance of family worship and ways to implementit in our crazy world. I admire the author's commitment to his family time and not allowing other things to encroach on that time. The A to Z study of attributes of God was great. I actually think this would make a great middle school youth group discussion book. Each letter has a short little story that could easily be stretched into a short message.

I received a copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review.

This is a light devotional made just for families, especially those with younger ones who can correlate the alphabet with these devotions or those learning about the bible for the first time.

The book is first broken down into three sections. The first one sets the foundation for "why" to adhere to family worship. The second one is where the devotions lie. And the third section is the "for good measure" section, where we are sure what's being planted is not only in good soil but that the soil is watered.

For family's who are just starting out with family worship and coming together for daily family devotions, I recommend you start here. Somewhere that sets a foundation for your family worship and devotions together.

And as always, please note that I received a free copy of this book from the publisher, Moody Publishers, in exchange for my honest opinion.

This 26-day devotion book focuses on the attributes of God in a catchy A-Z format. In addition to the chosen word, a list of other attributes are provided for each letter to help prompt further thinking. Sologub doesn't always choose the most "obvious" word, so the lessons do a good job of expanding the reader's view of God. An example of this would be the letter E, where my first thought would be "Eternal," but Sologub chose "Eagle" for the lesson. I also appreciate his emphasis on talking about God with reverence and respect.

The book could just as easily be used for 26 weeks of Sunday School classes, although the brief chapters (2-4 pages) would need to be fleshed out to make a complete lesson. I'd put the target age of the book at ages 7-12, but it could work for younger or older. I look forward to using this book with our children (ages 5,7, and 9) when we finish the book we are currently using.

Kitchen Table Devotions begins with several chapters that include some of Sologub's family worship stories, a theology of family worship, and tips for prioritizing family worship time. At the end, Sologub includes a few "bonus" chapters focused on prayer and transitioning children from parent-initiated to personal worship time.

Sergey Sologub is a native of the Ukraine and the book has been translated from that language. It was refreshing to read something where most of the illustrations were from places and cultures other than the USA.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher (Moody) in exchange for my review.

family devotions are so important to implement and i always love trying new ones with my own family.

this devotional is unique in the sense that it covers the entire alphabet through Scripture and God's characteristics. before he provides the details of the actual A-Z devotions, he uses the first part of the book to explain the importance of family worship and practical ways to implement it in our buys, chaotic lives. I enjoyed this section as it reminded me of the battles we are fighting as a family and my role as a parent ot our children and our responsibility to God for our family as a whole.

Sologub then provides an entire alphabet of devotionals. Each one is 2-3 pages in length and short enough to maintain engagement of family members at the table. The devotionals are all structured the same with the following:

    - ASK: each family member suggests a characteristic of God based on that specific letter o the alphabet; Sologub provides a list for reference

    - Brief story related to a chosen characteristic

    - ASK: question related to the written story

    - Devotional with Scripture

    - Prayer

The cover page for each devotional is also quite appealing. It includes a large capital version of the letter with a detailed illustration in the background that relates to the characteristic chosen for that devotionals.

he ends the book with a few bonuses:

    - his pleas for parents to teach their children how to implement quiet time for themselves without mom and dad as a crutch

    - his explanation for why he doesn't pray to bless his food

    - his life change once he began to engage in god's qualities and characteristics on a consistent basis

This is definitely a fun devotional for families and would work well with children of all ages.

Kitchen Table Devotions by Sergey Sologub is a concise guide to establishing times of family devotions or worship. In the first few chapters Sologub provides his reasoning for the importance of family worship and also gives examples of ways to structure the time. The majority of Kitchen Table Devotions is dedicated to exploring characteristics of God that start with each letter of the alphabet. Each of these sections is succinct and includes a story and some discussion questions. While Kitchen Table Devotions is written as a family book, some of the stories included in the characteristics section are more suitable for older children, versus toddlers or early elementary aged children. Nevertheless, readers will benefit from the thought-provoking ideas presented in Kitchen Table Devotions.
