I do love this author, but stories that have inconsistencies in them drive me crazy! It always makes me wonder if publishers truly proofread stories before publishing. Yes, I am sure most reading this will think I am being petty, and that is ok. As a business owner whose livelihood depends on proofreading, it is what it is. No, I am not perfect and yes, I make errors.

My issue with this story begins with Carina asking Martha if she can keep a secret. Carina is getting married. Martha states that Aunt Mary Katherine and Uncle Ezekiel must be over the moon about this news. Carina states that she and her soon to be husband have not told anyone yet. Several sentences later, however, Carina describes the elaborate wedding travel plans of her parents, siblings, and extended family members. Several paragraphs later, Carina describes an upcoming visit from her sister in several months so that they can shop for a wedding dress.

I went back and reread this conversation between Martha and Carina at least three times, trying to figure out how all these plans were already in place when no one had been told about the wedding. It is still a mystery. I did not bother finishing the story.
