Angeline5 Stars Out Of 5A Favourite Audio Series!October 28, 2016AngelineQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Chuck Black is a marvelous storyteller. He draws listeners into the world of the Bible and keeps them eager for more! At 29 years old I think I love this series as much as the 8-12 year old boys who it's especially geared toward. I've leant it out to many people--kids, teens, adults--and everyone has been hooked on it and come back for the next book.
Whether you're looking for something to encourage a reluctant young reader, an engaging look at the Bible, or simply an interesting book to listen to on a long road trip, The Kingdom Series will not disappoint!
Both the writing and the reader of this series are excellent. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

MikeFolsom, CAAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Very Well DoneMay 15, 2012MikeFolsom, CAAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Story starts a little slow, but the kids (8-12) got into it and the entire family loved it. My wife was a little disappointed that the first series ended with some unfinished business, but that was probably my fault for not getting all 3 sets.
I'm not sure if the series is intended to be a straight allegory, but what I appreciate most is that the story line deviates quite a bit from any one Bible account. This allows me to enjoy the story more without drawing parallels and predicting outcomes.
I downloaded the .mp3s. They came in 3 long files of about 1 hour and 15 minutes each (1:15). For improvement the files could be split into shorter ones, so there is more flexibility as to when you start/stop the audio when taking extended breaks.
MimiHouston, TXAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Outstanding Writing with a Great StorylineDecember 17, 2010MimiHouston, TXAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I bought my first copy of "Kingdom's Dawn" (the CD format) by Chuck Black because I was looking for a "boy's CD" for my grandsons. My goal was to develop their listening skills. Wow! I didn't know what a jewel I had found. From the first sentence, not only were my boys hooked, but my granddaughters and I were loathe to turn the CD off when we would arrive at our destinations (we primarily listen while in the car). Then, when we were about halfway through "Kingdom's Dawn," my husband was with us, and the kids wanted to listen to more of the saga. He reluctantly agreed, and within moments he was hooked as well. (He went back to the first disks to catch up.) I have since purchased the rest of the series and they have provided, not only entertainment, but real "meat" to chew on. Throughout our sojourn with the stories, we have taken the time to stop and discuss the tales and question the kids as to whom the characters represent and what incidents from the Bible are being re-told in these allegories. These discussions have enabled us to discover which stories of the Bible they know well and which ones they need to study more.
Chuck Black is a gifted writer whose masterly use of imagery and humor has caused all of us to look forward with eager anticipation to each succeeding book/CD. Since those first few sentences, we've been hooked, and we are giving copies of "Kingdom's Dawn" as gifts this Christmas to some of our treasured friends.
We highly recommend "Kingdom's Dawn" to everyone, young and old, but be warned! They are addictive! You will want to obtain the rest of the series as well.
Gerry5 Stars Out Of 5March 12, 2010GerryWe listened to this CD on the way to a ski vacation. My 9 and 12 year old sons loved it. It is a journey through the Bible set to a Knights, Lords and Serf storyline. At some point in the story they tried to figure out who the characters were in the Bible. It was intense sometimes; but a great message that kept their attention. They are begging for the remainder of the series!
