Excellent book by Dr. Tony Evans!April 20, 2018theChristianReviewerAge: 45-54Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Kingdom Disciples: Heaven's Representatives on Earth" by Tony Evans is a book that I had a hard time putting down. This is the first book I have read by Dr Evans, but based on this one, I know it won't be my last.
Dr. Evans challenges us in this engaging book to go deeper in our relationship with our Lord and Savior. He accurately shows the delineation between just being a Christian and being a true Kingdom Disciple.
It's a question of counting the cost of being a disciple and Dr. Evans effectively shows the points so you are able to count the cost. Not everyone will be willing to do this, but there is a life in the side of discipleship that will give you amazing peace and joy no matter what circumstances you may be facing.
The book is written in three parts which flow seamlessly into each other and build upon each other. First, Dr. Evans covers the Foundation of Kingdom Discipleship giving us a very good understanding of what discipleship is and what it would cost us. Following that, he goes into the Formation of Kingdom Discipleship where he goes into how we can be formed into true Kingdom Disciples if we choose to do so. Finally, he goes further into the Function of Kingdom Discipleship. In this final section, Dr. Evans shows he Kingdom Discipleship should function within yourself as an individual, then within your personal family, then within your church and also within the community in which you live.
Are you ready to dive deeper? Ready to have deep intimacy with Jesus Christ and function properly in the role of a Kingdom Disciple? If so, then this book is one that you really need to read. Take your time through it as there are excellent truths in this book.
Highly recommended to say the least.I received a copy of this book in exchange for this review from Moody Publishers and all opinions are my own.
Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Influence and encouragement for Christians seeking to bring forth God's kingdom here on earthMarch 25, 2018Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Kingdom Disciples: Heaven's Representatives On Earth by Tony Evans is more than just a book on discipleship. While Tony does explain what discipleship is and personal steps toward becoming a kingdom disciple, he also covers ways that your personal example can and should influence your family, church, and community at large - as well as the ideals, values, and actions that will show the rest of the world that you are a Christ follower.
Combining personal stories with Biblical truths, Tony candidly reminds us that being a kingdom disciple is not for the faint of heart; it requires a willing sacrifice of everything that you have and are without Christ - placing to rest every aspect of our lives that are within our personal control in order to turn the load over to Jesus and truly follow Him.
While I know without a doubt that I fall epically short of the expectations laid out for a kingdom disciple, I found this book to be an enlightening read that will hopefully help influence my journey more toward God and less toward my self and other worldly constructs and values. I believe that, when read with the spirit of an openness to change, Kingdom Disciples has the potential to greatly influence and encourage Christians seeking to bring forth God's kingdom here on earth. 4/5 stars.

Whilst looking for a book on discipleship I came across this book by Tony Evans and decided to read it after reading the description-it did not disappoint. I fear discipleship is neglected in the church today. Few churches point their focus in producing true disciples of Christ and making the Great Commission a priority. But discipleship is not only important but a command and a mark of true faith in our lives.
In "Kingdom Disciples" Dr. Evans addresses discipleship in 3 parts: The Foundation of Kingdom Discipleship, The Formation of Kingdom Discipleship, and The Function of Kingdom Discipleship. He explains what discipleship means and personal application using the Scriptures for examples. Dr. Evans also goes on to explain how a true disciple is to make more disciples and the church's role in discipleship.
I like this quote from the book:
"One mark of a person who wants to follow Christ, one absolute necessity for being His disciple, is to be His witness and testimony in all you do."
I recommend this book for those who are looking to learn what discipleship is all about. Dr. Evans has done a great work in presenting this material in a well- rounded way that covers any question you may have about the topic.

Lisa - The Merry Momma5 Stars Out Of 5You will not walk away the same after reading this book!September 25, 2017Lisa - The Merry MommaQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I have long been a fan of Dr. Evans and his books. So when an opportunity arose to receive a free copy of his newest book, Kingdom Disciples, in exchange for a review, I jumped at the chance!
It was everything I've come to expect from Dr. Evans and more. All the books in his Kingdom series (and I've read all but one) are fantastic, and inspire readers to view all of life through a Kingdom lens. This latest book is a practical overview of discipleship, and it teaches what a disciple is, what a disciple should do, and how to make disciples of others. It is highly informative, but also deeply inspiring and even challenging at times.
In Dr. Evans' typical straight-forward-yet-loving fatherly way, he spoke straight to my heart, his words piercing right through all the selfish, fearful, complacent muck that had built up around it.
I will warn you, if you're looking for a feel-good book that you can passively consume and walk away from filled with warm tinglies, then this is not the book for you. If, however, you are desiring to deepen your faith and get serious about living out the call of God in your life, then this is an absolute must-read. You will not read this book and want to live life the same self-seeking, self-interested way you've been living it, I can assure you. Rather, you will see that our lives are to be lived for more than just ourselves, and that discipleship is a life that God has called all of his children to embrace.

Interested in learning more about discipleship? Need to be motivated to make disciples? This is your book! It will fire you up to change the world through Jesus Christ!
I agree wholeheartedly with Dr. Evans' premise. The point of the book is that kingdom disciples are in short supply and that too many Christians are professing in name only without the power and authority of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Section 3 was my favorite and it fleshes out what kingdom discipleship looks like individually, in the family, and in the church.
This book dispels positive Christian cliches and "name it and claim it" theology, instead proving from Jesus's own words that discipleship comes at a cost but that the cost is well worth paying for our Savior and Lord.
I rated it at 4 stars instead of 5 only because it was a heavy read for me (even though I noticed some others said it was an easy read for them). I had to read some sections several times to really digest the material. Additionally, the first chunk of the book is spent convincing the reader that many professing Christians aren't kingdom disciples. My guess is that most people who are interested in this book are already convinced of that.
Overall, this book gives a great definition of kingdom disciples and encourages readers to be Heaven's representatives on Earth. I recommend it!
