Tell us a little about yourself. I am a Christian wife, mother, leader, speaker, author, volunteer, artist, and former practical nurse. My faith roots are deep and strong. I enjoy interacting with people and sharing stories. I have shared some devotionals on Sermon Illustrator.org. I have discovered that life is mostly grey and seldom black and white.
What was your motivation behind this project? Our world was turned upside down in a heartbeat when at age 45 my husband suffered an unexpected stroke; leaving him unable to move the right side of his body and unable to utter a single sound. God spoke to my heart and told me to document our journey, and so I did. A year of trials and transformation had passed by before God spoke to me again and told me to turn our documented journey into a testimony in book format, and so I did. My unwavering faith and trust in God was the motivation behind this monumental but inspirational project.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My hope is that people, whether caught up in a personal crises or not, will gain some insights and helpful tips to help them navigate the personal storms in life, or to help them help the people they know. Also. to offer hope when situations may appear to be hopeless. No situation, circumstance, or crises is beyond hope when God is involved.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? My husband Jeff's ongoing gut wrenching grit and determination to regain all he had lost, while at the same time maintaining a positive and generous attitude, is humbling. The manner in which he has met each challenge and modelled the behaviour, attitude, creativity, and stamina necessary to rise above them, has not only demonstrated his character but has been a wonderful model and example for others (our children included). Meeting and getting to know all of the people who crossed our new path was truly a blessing as well. We would never have met or come to know any of these folks if this health crises didn't happen. Of course, seeing the hand of God at work in your life and experiencing miracles first hand is always a great boost to anyones faith walk!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My earthly father had a big influence on my life and was an ongoing source of inspiration to me. I enjoy all sorts of non-fiction books. I listen to Allister Begg, Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Charles Price and Joseph Prince, just to name a few. I find that listening to a variety of sources offers a wider scope of thought and gives a more well rounded picture with lots of perspectives to mull over.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Have faith and trust God always. Never lose hope.
