Donna CNYAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5February 17, 2010Donna CNYAge: 25-34Gender: femaleI was surprised to find this did not include the Math part of BJU's K5 curriculum. When I looked it back up, they had not advertised it being included. I will buy the student worktext for math separately, but would have been nice if it were included.Other than that, it looks great and my just turned 5 year old can't wait to start it! We'll finish up her K4 BJU stuff and get started on this before fall, for sure!
Lisa K4 Stars Out Of 5August 15, 2009Lisa KThis curriculum is most definitely set up for a group setting. Plan spending another $250 minimum in prep costs if you want to do all set up and activities listed...plus additional supplements. There is a large amount of preparation/copying and the lesson plans can be quite confusing. Often had to read and re-read lessons to make sure I didn't miss a step in planning.Haven't found anything that could qualify as arithmetic in the whole package...we have to supplement with other materials. There are many additional resources, not included..or mentioned in a separate list for advance prepartion..i.e...books (which my library didn't carry-all BJU Press & not sold on CBD), writing texts, projects and activities galore. Touches on Bible, but again, have to supplement.Bottom line, plan on about 3-4 hours planning per week.Music CD is a bit on the classical side of singing..hard for little ones to keep pitch.Visuals are on thin paper. To keep them in good shape you will have to keep them in their binding or have them laminated (about 60 pages worth.ON A PLUS SIDE...FUN! FUN! FUN!Loads of info....covers reading/phonics beyond what I expected. Even without to additional writing option, plenty of chances to be creative and work on writing skills.Bright colors the children love. Stories/characters to keep them interested.Over all, I do think you could be much more for your money through other programs...even though I like what content is given through this curriculum, it is missing much.
