Hookmeinabook5 Stars Out Of 5A intriguing "Who did it" story. Definite Must Read!October 2, 2017HookmeinabookQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Justice Buried is the story of Kelsey Allen who is trying to get her newly started Security Consulting business up and running. Since she is an experienced rock climber and a "white-hat" hacker, She approaches a business and asks permission to break into the company to show them any weaknesses in their security. She is hired to check out the security of the Turner Accounting services building downtown. So one night she climbs the 14 floor building and slips in through a open window and leaves her card on the desk to let them know that the "Phantom Hawk" had infiltrated their security. But as Kelsey was leaving the building she sees a silhouette of a man in a office below. She went to investigate when the silhouette turned and she heard the sound of a gun and realized the man was shooting at her! She quickly climbed to the roof and hid behind a garbage can praying that the man would not see her. She makes it out of the building and safely home but she is still wondering who shot at her?
Kelsey is hired shortly after for another job, this time at the Pink Palace (a History Museum). She was to go undercover as the Museum Curator and try to find out who is stealing artifacts from the Museum Archives. Her first "mission" was to attend a benefit dinner at the museum and get to know the people who work at the museum to make a list of potential suspects. As Kelsey was learning about the dinner, she discovers that her mother set up a blind date for her with Detective Brad Hollister who she had a crush on when they were in high school. After enjoying the dinner with Brad, Kelsey decides to test the museum's security because of the extra challenge of the people at the dinner below. Kelsey easily broke into the building and left her card as usual but within minutes of her exiting the building, They discover that the head of security was murdered! Kelsey is worried that since she left the card, the police would think she did it. But now Kelsey has something else to worry about, It appears that the murderer saw her put the card on the desk and he knows who she is. Will Kelsey be his next target?
Brad is surprised by Kelsey because she was always so snotty when they were in high school, but she seems so different now. As he talks with her throughout the dinner, he finds himself oddly attracted to her but he cannot understand why. As he starts his new position in the cold case division, he decides to look up the case on Kelsey's father who disappeared over 20 years prior. Did he really run away with several antiques from the museum or was his disappearance because of foul play?
When Kelsey's life is threatened, Brad and the other detectives join forces to protect Kelsey, but if it comes down to it.. Would Brad risk his life to save Kelsey?
So this is the second book in the Memphis Cold Case series but it also could be read as a stand-alone because the characters in the first book are minor/side characters in this book. I loved the relationship between Kelsey and Brad because though it was evident that they both were developing feelings for each other, the book was not overly romantic. There was a strange part of weird modern medical practices (a Psychiatrist) but it was only for a page or two. I loved all of the twist and turns in the plot and how it kept you guessing until the very end. Overall I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars*****
I would like to thank Revell , A division of Baker Publishing Group for allowing me to review this book in exchange for a free copy, I was not required to write a favorable review, just an honest one.

RickMiddleburg, FLAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Reviews From a Man's PerspectiveSeptember 29, 2017RickMiddleburg, FLAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is the second book in the Memphis Cold Case series. While it is the second book, I feel it can be read as a standalone, but you might as well grab the first one and start there because youll love it too (Book #1 is Justice Delayed) I enjoy books that give depth to their characters so that you can understand a lot of their actions based on their history. The message of faith and relying on God in all circumstances was weaved throughout this story, a great subtle approach to bringing in the biblical aspect without offending those without faith. I like the witty romantic tension but I was glad to see it was a backburner part of the story rather than a central focus.
Is this a "Guys Book"? I think all guys like to read stories of mystery and adventure. This one, with all of the twist and turns will definitely not disappoint.

KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A compulsive thrill of a read!October 12, 2018KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Definitely a sleep-depriving-red-eyes-in-the-morning kind of read because once you start Justice Buried there's no way you'll be able to stop. Intriguing, edge-of-your seat stuff! From the cold case (that's heating up with alarming speed) to the prickly, slow-start romance. And if there was ever a kick-butt heroine it's Kelsey! I mean she's like a Ninja female Spiderman. How could you not love a heroine who rappels down buildings for a living?!
Well, Brad has a few doubts at first. These two were not high school sweethearts -- more like indifferent and misunderstood -- and they carry those residual feelings into their unexpected reunion. And then things get really complicated as the action and danger amps up. And oh, what a thrilling twisted mess it is! Lots of potential suspects, riveting casework and compelling clues. I was a nervous wreck by the halfway point and then, as things began to come together in my steel trap of an armchair sleuth mind (smirk), I came close to hyperventilating. Heart attack material within the pages of this book!
A compulsive thrill of a read! -
Fizzy Pop5 Stars Out Of 5If a mystery can truly keep me guessing (and I don't mean I have it narrowed down to just this or that) then it gets bonus points and kudos bows from me.March 27, 2018Fizzy PopQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5It was just last fall when I picked up my first Patricia Bradley novel. Sometimes it feels forever ago (as it's taken me ages to get time to read my second one!) and sometimes it feels like the blink of an eye. If you remember last September when I read 'Justice Delayed' there were a lot of changes going on in my work life. Well, I finally got around to picking up 'Justice Buried' at another time of massive changes in my work life. I finished it this morning in the parking lot before work, and right as the dust finally settled (in a good way!). As much as I enjoy this author I am almost afraid to read the next one, you know what I mean? I have to say that I didn't struggle with the characters, as much, this go round but then again I read the book in about 24 hours. There were a few characters to have to learn and we know how well I do with names. . .
Let's face it, you have to get up pretty early in the midnight to pull one over on me. I'm jaded by years of mystery reading and a mind that likes to figure out why people do the things they do. If a mystery can truly keep me guessing (and I don't mean I have it narrowed down to just this or that) then it gets bonus points and kudos bows from me. There were a couple of different mysteries within the mystery and the big one, the one behind the whole shebang, kept me somewhat in the dark. I had suspicions but I wasn't certain enough to stake my life on it. Back to the little mysteries for a minute. One of them was just too perfectly obvious that I knew before I knew. And it was just a teaser in the bigger story, but I knew. It didn't ruin the story but just for the record - I knew.
Kelsey and Brad share an amazing story of reconnection, dodging bullets, uncovering sinister plots, and catching the creeper. With a multi-layered story of suspense and intrigue these characters bring it all together with a touch of romance as well. Characters with strong, well-developed personalities, make this book another winner for me. Personally, I can't wait to come back to this community and embed myself into another cold case, which apparently isn't as cold as they think. 'Justice Betrayed' releases June 5th!
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by NetGalley. I was not compensated for this review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review. -
