God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you there. He wants you to be just like Jesus.
Can you think of a better offer?
Jesus felt no gui< God wants you to feel no guilt. Jesus had no bad habits; God wants to do away with yours. Jesus had no fears; God wants the same for you. Jesus had no anxiety about death; you needn't either. God's desire, his plan, his ultimate goal is to make you into the image of Christ.
But how does this change occur? And why does the change seem so slow? If God wants me to be just like Jesus, why do I still seem just like me?
In Just Like Jesus, Max Lucado helps you answer these questions. He helps you understand God's wonderful ways of transformation. Would you like to know more? Then read on. And remember: God loves you just way you are, but he refuses to leave you there. He wants you to be just like Jesus.

I love how he use his typical writing style, humor, and extensive use of passages in the Bible and how he interacts it with the current life. This is maybe one of the reasons why I could say that he makes the reading of profound Christian truths easy to follow and even enjoyable.
In his book "Just Like Jesus", Max takes us on a journey to restore our hearts. He welcomes us to a question that will really challenge us to think: "What if, for one day, Jesus were to become you?" How would you answer this?
For me, the most striking truth I've read from this book is this:
"God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be JUST LIKE JESUS. God loves you just the way you are. If you think His love for you would be stronger if your faith were, you are WRONG. If you think His love would be deeper if your thoughts were, WRONG again. DON'T CONFUSE GOD'S LOVE WITH THE LOVE OF PEOPLE. The love of people often increases with performance and decreases with mistakes. Not so with God's love. HE LOVES YOU RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE." (emphasis mine)
Max's intentions are very clear. he want the reader to be able to grasp the idea that God loves us and that He wants us to be just like his Son" pure, blameless and obedient. Max also gives hope that we can do this by trusting our lives to HIM and just follow His Word, the Bible.
I would highly recommend this book to my family and friends. It's very easy to understand yet full of hopeful topics.

The [[ASIN:084994743X the first]] is a readable book drawing us to be to be followers of Jesus. [[ASIN:0849948509 The second]] takes much of the same material and rewrites it for use as a 30 day devotional. Though much of the same material exists in both volumes, they are not word for word duplicates. On the other hand, if the reader's interest is in reading a Max Lucado book, only one of these books needs to be chosen. It might be useful for a small group or church to offer both books, allowing each participant to choose the format most comfortable for each individual.
The books allows the reader to examine what it means to be a follower of Jesus - and, like most of Lucado's book, is very practical and down to earth. Conservative and biblical, the book, like most of Lucado's work, is full of modern stories, anecdotes, and parables. It is the stories, anecdotes, and parables, that make both books so inviting to the reader. The stories are set amidst scripture - both presented as stories and as truths that will define our faith.
Having worked through both books, I prefered the devotional format - but that is really a result of who I am rather than on one book being better than the other. Just Like Jesus will allow us to examine our lives - whether as a monograph or as a daily devotional.
This review is based on free electronic copies of these books provided by the publisher for the purpose of creating this review. The opinions expressed are mine alone.
Dr JSKAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5February 6, 2013Dr JSKAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Just Like Jesus: A Heart Like His, written by Max Lucado, is a book that asks its reader to consider what their lives would look like if, for one day and one night, Jesus were to live their lives with His heart.
To become like Christ, is the desire that God has for all Christians. This begins within our greatest life sustaining organ, our hearts. If we gain the heart of God, if we gain the heart of Christ, then we shall have a great impact upon this world for the glory of God and the edification of man.
While this is simply stated it, at times, is very difficult to see to fruition. Questions arise: How does this change occur? When it begins, why does it seem to be taking so long? Why, after all this time of trying, do I still feel just like me? While these questions seem to rotate through our minds leaving us, at times, wondering about our witness, wondering about our purpose on this earth, they can be simply answered and released.
Max, within this publication, answers all of these questions with power and direction. He guides his readers into understanding what their hearts represent and what it can become if Christ is allowed to rule within their lives.
This publication is an amazing read that is sure to change your heart into a motivated tool to be utilized by God, thus it is a recommended read for all who seriously desire to expand their faith and witness.

If our goal as Christians is to become just like Jesus, how do we go about doing that? In this book, Max Lucado shows you how to do just that in a way that is easy to understand!
If Jesus walked in our shoes and nothing in our life had changed, our circumstances and our problems that we face stayed the same but Jesus was living our life with His own heart, would our attitude and behavior change? Would our family and friends notice a difference in us? Would we love our enemies?
A chapter in this book that really hit home with me is the second chapter: Loving the People You Are Stuck With - A Forgiving Heart. Jesus' disciples were as close to Him as family but they questioned Him, cursed Him, and betrayed Him. And Jesus forgave them for all the wrongdoings they had done! We must follow His example and forgive when someone wrongs us as well!
Jesus wasn't guilty and still forgave everybody that wronged Him. So even though we may not be the guilty party, we must follow Jesus' and forgive the people that wrong us!
In the book you will find numerous examples of how we can have a heart like Jesus. We should continually look to Jesus and try to live the way He did.
I highly recommend this book!

And after reading the first page of the introduction, I realized I had read that book before. So I went to my favorite chapter from that book _ and remembered reading about "Stuckitits" _ the condition of being "stuck" in a relationship you didn't really understand fully until it was too late. I remember reading this the first time when I was very sick, in physical pain, and wondering why it was that God put me in that situation.
Then I continued reading about how Jesus washed His Disciples' feet _ all 24 feet of the men who had followed Him around for 3+ years. INCLUDING Judas. INCLUDING Peter. INCLUDING Thomas.
Judas who would betray Jesus to the soldiers who were trying to capture Him.
Peter who would deny knowing Jesus after His arrest.
Thomas who doubted Jesus' resurrection until Jesus showed him where the nails had been.
For me, back then, the relationship wasn't a person. It was a thing. It was a horrible disease. I beat that disease. In April, I will celebrate 8 years of being cancer-free.
