S.Chapel ReviewsSouthern OhioAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5The Job Swap RomanceFebruary 7, 2024S.Chapel ReviewsSouthern OhioAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Just for the Summer: A Novel - eBook. When two hotel Managers from different states decide to swap jobs for the summer things get interesting. This is a cute and easy to read story that I enjoyed reading. It was interesting and drew me in from the first chapter. The characters lept off the pages and made the book seem so realistic. I love this Authors writing style and have been a fan of hers for years. I thought the book was very entertaining and I highly recommend it.
There are two main characters in this book. Ginny Masters and Jacqueline Potter. Ginny is the top manager at the Hotel Jackson in Seattle. Jacqueline manages her grandpas fishing lodge in Idaho. Ginnys boss is very hard to work for. Never appreciates all that Ginny does for her. Ginny has worked at the hotel for ten years. Started in the Laundry department and worked her way up to top manager. Lately Ginny feels like she would like a change in her life. She joins a Job Swap Website hoping to find a position at another hotel. Jacqueline hates working for her grandpa. She has a college degree in Hotel Management and frankly feels she could do better then to work at a fishing lodge. she is a very pretty girl but manipulative and ungrateful. Jacqueline wants to leave her grandpas lodge so badly that she signs up for a Job Swap on a website. Theres a hotel manager at a high scale hotel in Seattle and Jacqueline would love to work in the city. A position as manager at a Lodge resort catches Ginnys eye and she feels this peaceful setting would be a heavenly stress free place to manage. This is just the change that she needs right now.
I recommend this book to readers of womens fiction, contemporary romance and Christian Fiction. This is a standalone book. This book is scheduled to be released on 3/19/24.
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own.

Terri Gillespie5 Stars Out Of 5Melody Carlson does it again!June 3, 2024Terri GillespieAhhh. What an enjoyable romp through the imagination! Once again, Melody Carlson has given readers a delightful, quirky tale with characters that make their way into our hearts. JUST FOR THE SUMMER is what I call a "Let's Put on a Show" story. It harkens back to the LITTLE RASCALS overcoming odds to pull together a great stage production to save some project. Except with JUST FOR THE SUMMER, the productions are a boutique hotel and rustic, rundown fishing resort.
THE STORY: Ginny, an underappreciated, overworked boutique hotel manager has no life. While she's great at what she does, her life has become work, work, work. Meanwhile, Jacqueline manages her grandfather's rundown fishing "resort" and longs to leave the rustic life behind for a more glamorous venue--and a more glamorous life.
When the two managers discover a way to swap jobs for the summer, they hurdle into two great adventures. This is when we get to know great characters that jump from the pages and into your heart.
Loved, loved, loved this book. The conflict was realistic with dialog that rings authentic. I'd love to see a sequel or series with these characters.
Highly recommended to readers who love contemporary romance with substance, faith journeys, clean romance, strong character development.
I received an ARC from the publisher for my honest review. -
KrisFairfax, VAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fun summer readMay 17, 2024KrisFairfax, VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really laughed as I read this one! What a great summer read, made even better if you have ever stayed at a rustic lodge or fancy, schmancy hotel. Ginny does not have the hospitality degree but has the experience and work ethic after working many years at a high end, boutique hotel, starting at the bottom and working her way up. Jacqueline, on the other hand, has a degree in hospitality but works at the rustic lodge of her grandfather and is missing an element. When they agree to switch locations and jobs through a website, even if only for a summer, it gets funny as they have no idea what exactly they have gotten themselves into. Such a great, fun, clean romance, however I will say there was not much, or anything that I could recall, to make it Christian fiction. I enjoyed this novel and do recommend it for a fun summer read. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I am freely writing a review - all thoughts and opinions are my own.

AEASand5 Stars Out Of 5Simply Delightful FictionApril 17, 2024AEASandQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5There are some authors I trust to deliver exactly what I expect when I pick up their books. For example, let us say I am seeking a novel with a character who is at a crossroads in life, experiences an unexpected event that offers self exploration and understanding, meets a man who challenges and encourages her, and we have a happy ending. That is when I pick up Melody Carlson. It is the kind of predicability I can rely on when the real world begs an escape, but do not think that makes her predictable. The craftsmanship that delivers this comfort while creating completely different novels every time is worthy of great respect. On that note, I offer you my take on her latest, Just for the Summer.
Ginny Masters has worked her way up from the bottom to become manager of a posh boutique hotel in Seattle, but her life is not the glitz and glam it seems on the surface. Jaqueline Potter longs for glitz and glam, but instead manages her grandfather^s Idaho fishing lodge. Seeking a change of pace, both sign up to participate in a job swap. Just for the summer. But with the job swap comes a bit of a life swap. Jaqueline finds that the posh hotel daytime only scratches the surface of reality, and Ginny finds that the simple life just might be the life for her. At a crossroads, each has to make a serious decision about what happens in their lives at the end of the swap. With her trademark skill, Carlson delivers relatable characters and a satisfying storyline that will keep you reading.
Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me a copy to read and review. All opinions expressed here are my own and are completely genuine.
