This book is part of the EPS "Right into Reading" series,which is designed to give either beginning readers or olderstruggling readers a solid foundation in basic soundsthrough a wide variety of readings.

Jump Rightinto Reading introduces the letters of the alphabet(regular sounds only) in carefully sequenced groups of"bite-sized" lessons so that words can be read immediately.Students learn how letters and their sounds combine to makewords that have meaning.

An engaging,connect-the-dots line drawing of an animal introduces eachnew letter. The sound being taught is then emphasized in redtext (along with words having the same beginning sound) atthe start of the lesson, as an aid to visual learners.Students then say the name of the picture and circle theletters of the provided pictures that begin with the samesound. They then move on to tracing the letter; printing theletter under the pictures that begin with the same sound;circling the letter; drawing a line between upper and lowercase letters; connecting pictures with the same beginningsound; and completing other simple exercises that developreading comprehension and vocabulary while introducingphonics skills and reinforcing phonological awareness.
