Over a year ago, thrill-seeking brothers Wesley and Brent Jamison died in a scuba diving accident, leaving behind their wives, Angela and Eva. While Angela focuses on surviving and taking care of her three children, barely making ends meeting, Eva quits working and begins to lose herself in the process of grieving. Life as they knew it seems to be over, and neither can figure out how to move forward.
But then Eva discovers that their husbands registered for a seven-day ultra-marathor in gorgeous New Zealand before they died, and the race is happening in four months. She convinces a reluctant Angela to compete with her in Wes and Brent's place as a way to honor their husbands. Running the race of a lifetime just might be the perfect way to come to terms with their husbands' deaths-and with the way they lived.

But then Eva gets a life-changing phone call. Before Brent and Wes died, they had signed up for a race of a lifetimean ultra-marathon in beautiful New Zealand. Eva begs Angela to run the race with her in their husbands place, and Angela finally agrees, hoping to finally understand her husband's choices.
Training is exhausting, and the race is even more demanding. Their journey grows more complicated by the presence of two menMarc is Brents best friend who is running the race with Eva and Angela, and Simon King is a writer who is covering their inspiring story. With every step, Eva and Angela must ask themselves questions that they havent had the courage to ask before.
