This book tells the compelling story of a journey into the profound depths of god’s love; of the unquenchable grace He pours into and through our lives.
In March 2009, Nicola Neal moved with her family to live permanently in a nation none of them had ever visited. All she had was God’s promise: I am taking you there to teach you how to love.” After this step of obedience followed a rollercoaster adventure of dramatic highs and crushing lows as together they confronted the most unimaginable poverty and need.
Yet we read how, in the face of overwhelming circumstances and towering odds, love triumphs again and again. In this beautifully written book, Nicola shares timeless truths woven through extraordinary stories of love and grace.
Nicola Neal and her husband, Simon, are the Founders and Directors of Revelation Life based in Kampala, Uganda and were formerly part of the senior leadership team of Bath City Church. They are passionate about bringing this emmerging generation into a life-changing encounter with their heavenly Father. www.revelationlife.org.uk
Lins2u5 Stars Out Of 5Willingness to share God's loveNovember 18, 2014Lins2uQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4How do you describe God's love in a few sentences? This is my honest opinion as I reflect on reading this book. Be prepared to begin the journey reading with an open heart and mind as you turn the pages of the author's acceptance, trust and commitment to follow God's leading to "live and share his love" in a sad, loveless country. It challenged me, convicted and brought true joy that we each are on a "Journey Into Love" right where we are. Am I willing to accept that love and keep on loving? Great job, Nicola! I will begin by sharing this book with a friend! I received this book from bookfun.org or Book Network. If you enjoy reading new authors' book, please check out this site!
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: Over 65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Personal account of mission work in UgandaNovember 13, 2014bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Neal shares how the Lord told them her husband, Simon, was to quit his job. Their church offered them a job and for seven years they worked with youth and children. They experienced God's provision in miraculous ways. Yet she struggled pain, anxiety, and fear of failure. She took a sabbatical from ministry and spent time with Jesus, experiencing healing and a change within.
They came to feel they were to give their lives to the rescue and restoration of children and families in Africa but really didn't know what that mean. People prophesied over them that it was time to go. They met with their pastor and he encouraged them. Twelve weeks later they were in Uganda.
They are currently working in four slums on the west side of Kampala. The smallest has around a thousand people while the largest has over a million, living in extreme poverty, in a desperate situation with violence, death and disease. The Neals and their team hold healing crusades, praying for people. They have an ongoing work helping people come out of poverty for good.
This is a very personal account of her experiences. Rather than just giving a record of the events, she shares lessons she has learned through her life in Africa. She writes about the power of love, brokenness and sacrifice, what love looks like, and love casting out fear. Even though she and her husband had to return to England because of a critical illness he had, she knew they would go back. She had seen the need and knew she could not walk away from it. She shares a number of stories of children they have helped. Some just break your heart. The are all part of he author's journey into love.
This is a moving story of one woman answering the call to help the poor and needy. You will be encouraged and challenged by reading it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through The Book Club Network for the purpose of an independent and honest review
muffinHonea Path, SCAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Journey Into LoveOctober 4, 2014muffinHonea Path, SCAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What a thought provoking book! Nicola Neal shares some of her experiences when she and her family moved to another nation. She definitely shows all the love and compassion she has in her life. Some of these stories will be devastating and heart wrenching. It really made me realize how fortunate and how rich I really am! Nicola's whole focus on this book was about love. God really showed her how to love these people with His love. None of us can really love on our own; only God can give us that love. Nicola is definitely a servant of God and I was really impressed with the love she was able to show these people she lived with. I would encourage everyone to read this book. It will change your life! I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.
