RH27784 Stars Out Of 5Great IntroductionApril 3, 2013RH2778Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Journey through the Creation Museum is a coffee table style book that kids and adults alike will enjoy flipping through. I did lower the rating on the book slightly because of one section. It was entitled "Men in White." There is a film that they show in the museum and is described in the following paragraph. "Where a young girl has some very important questions of faith, two unforgettable (and very entertaining!) angels show up to give her vital biblical answers in this special production." A photo of the "angels" accompanies the description and it depicts two men in cool white sunglasses, white jumpsuits with supposed haloes around their heads. We have found Ken Ham to be a trusted source for our family, and I know that his heart is to honor the Lord, but I think productions such as these, have the opposite effect than is intended. In the Scriptures, people are consistently shown reacting to angels in the same manner. They fall down in fear/admiration/dismay. Although I don't doubt that this production makes very good points, it's a mistake to take something that the Lord created in awe inspiring majestic way, and dumb it down to this level. In the end, what people go away with is something opposite of what Scripture conveys. This section is only a couple of page though and the rest of the book is definitely worth the read!
In Ken Ham's introduction, he explains how Jeremiah 20:9 was laid as a foundation to put a "fire shut up in my bones." This in depth introduction to the Creation Museum makes it obvious how such a place could be used as a tool to both encourage and disciple Christians. Readers will get to see the Stargazers Room where astrophysicist wrote and designed what looks like a truly awe inspiring program. The mail hall section includes page size photos of the many exhibits. One of the finest sections of the book is the part that allows you to "walk through" and see early Bible figures. From Adam and Eve in the cave of sorrows, to Noah building the ark, (complete with an animatronic figure building the inside of the ark!) The Dinosaur Den section will be a favorite section of the book for the kids---it is absolutely astounding what has been done to depict accurate dinosaur figures. Amazing. The book also covered the Flood Geology room, the palm plaza, petting zoo, and nature trails. After seeing the book, it would be enough to convince anyone to go to the Creation Museum. I have no idea how large it is, but by the looks of the book, there is enough to keep a family busy for several days!
If you're not able to get to the museum, the book itself will be a treat to page through. Stunning photography. Excellent captions. There wasn't a dry section in the book. Kids and adults alike are sure to love this fine book.
