Messy Journey is for parents walking the difficult road with a wayward child. Be inspired to drink the deep waters of peace as you draw closer to the Father of all prodigals. Author and licensed parent and family educator Lori Wildenberg offers practical grace- and truth-filled ways of navigating your relationship with a detoured childwhether they are rejecting faith, dabbling in sin, or wholeheartedly embracing sinful behavior. There is hope. After all, their struggle isnt really with youits with God.
Lori Wildenberg understands full well the heartache and struggles of having a young person take an unexpected detour. As mom to a daughter who wrestles with her faith and identity, she personally understands what parents of kids gone astray endure. As a licensed parent and family educator, she is professionally equipped to encourage and empower parents of kids in hard places. With more than 25 years experience working with parents and kids in both secular and faith-based settings, her philosophy is focused on developing a childs heart and character while creating a family system that is interdependent and dependent on God. A national speaker, Lori is a cofounder of the 1 Corinthians 13 Parenting ministry, coauthor of three parenting books, lead mentor mom for the Moms Together Facebook community, and a freelance writer for a number of online Christian parenting magazines. Lori and her family make their home in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

JM Adams5 Stars Out Of 5A must-read for parents with prodigal childrenSeptember 5, 2017JM AdamsQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Lori Wildenberg has richly blessed me and will bless so many by writing this Holy Spirit-inspired book that resonates deeply with all parents, and especially those of us with children who have taken a different path. She and her daughter Courtney powerfully share their personal experience and struggles as parent and prodigal, and Lori also adds quotes from many others with various situations throughout the book. These perspectives provide rich authenticity and are very encouraging. Each chapter provides excellent practical advice, solid biblical support, and specific prayers that will help concerned parents more effectively love and walk alongside their kids. I could not be more enthusiastic in endorsing this excellent book!
LindseyBellAge: 25-345 Stars Out Of 5Full of nuggets of wisdom for parents of prodigalsMay 8, 2017LindseyBellAge: 25-34Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0When I first heard about Messy Journey, I wanted to read it (because I liked Lori's other books) but honestly didn't think it would apply to me very much. My kids are still young, so they haven't even had the opportunity to become "prodigals" yet.
I'm so glad I read the book. Though my kids aren't prodigals, there are still others in my life who have chosen to live in ways that are different than what I want for them. My guess is, there are also people in your life whom you love who don't always live like you'd like them to. This book is full of nuggets of truth to help you respond to these loved ones with grace.
I've also tucked away tips from this book into my memory so that someday, if my children do rebel, I'll be better prepared with how to handle it with grace and love.
If you have a child who has strayed from his or her faith or who is living in ways you disagree with, I highly recommend this book.
*I received a free copy of the book for review, but I was not required to write a positive review.
The Father's Love5 Stars Out Of 5A Parent's Must ReadMay 5, 2017The Father's LoveQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really loved Messy Journey. I expect it will help thousands of families. It is full of real life heart wrenching stories, prodigal son and daughter stories, with amazing real life God answers. I was moved to tears as parents and children shared their hearts. In this rapidly changing world we, as Gods children, need to understand and live Gods plan to its fullest. This book will help you to do that. When you desperately need God it is time to fall on your knees, with your face to the ground in prayer, and let Him know how much you need Him. To God be all the glory!

If you are looking for someone who will openly share insights from all perspectives of a modern day prodigal journeythis book is for you. Along with other stories, Lori and Courtney share how they hold to conflicting values while staying in relationship and seek to discern Gods truth. The honest feelings shared are not always politically correct in a world where relativism rules and people avoid conversations about right and wrong. I was challenged to examine my own perspectives of grace and absolutes against the light of Gods word. Even before finishing Messy Journey, I started a list of friends and family who will want to read this book! This side of heaven we are all prodigals trying to get home. Thank you, Lori and Courtney, for openly sharing your journey.
A Must Read5 Stars Out Of 5Messy JourneyMay 2, 2017A Must ReadQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In reading Messy Journey, I felt I was sitting with a good friend who really understood. So many words met me right where I am on this journey, and confirmed my faith and trust in a Sovereign Lord.
One of my biggest struggles has been to watch my son fight against God, since I know He is the only answer. Lori's words gave me the okay to be patient and let Him do the work. It is not my job to bring my son to faith in the One, True God. That's between him and The Lord. Thanks for reminding me of this.
