Jotham's Journey is a WONDERFUL book for the whole family to read aloud together!! We have a 10 year age span between our oldest and youngest, but we all enjoy reading this book together. It is a long and detailed read for the 4-6 year ages, but if they can do a quiet activity like coloring while we read, they do pick up many things from the story. We have given this book to our cousins, aunts & uncles, grandparents and friends. This year when the cousins came for Christmas, they knew where we were in the story because they were reading the same story! We always get behind in the reading, but that's ok. We try to finish the story on Christmas Day, but some years it is a few days after. We have also read Tabitha's Travels and Bartholomew's Passage also by Arnold Ytreeide. Tabitha and Bartholomew are characters in Jotham's Journey. These are also good Advent books, but Jotham's Journey is our families favorite of the three.

This book is full of suspense and wisdom. I enjoy reading them as an adult and the kids get where they don't want the story to end. I was so moved by the ending which brought me to tears. Great book and way to spend some time together with my kids during a busy time of year.

This book is book 1 of 3 in the Jotham's Journey series. The best Advent books for families ever. In these daily readings during the Christmas Season, You and your family will be rivited by the story line each night, while being blessed by the daily spiritual lessons being taught. I could not recommend more highly a book series than this one; with the exception of the Bible itself. I read one of these 3 books each year the 40 days leading up to Christmas.

All I can say is "Wow!" Our whole family was captivated from the 5 year old to Grandma. We're going to read it after dinner this season. Talk about accomplishing the impossible, I actually found motivation to get dinner on the table :)

I'm posting this after the first day, because on the one hand you'd think wait until it's finished, but on the other, I could always come back and write, and others have that covered. I wanted to capture our first reaction, because for a family Advent experience you need momentum and motivation. This gave us both. It also put patience (waiting) on the front burner, because I wanted to keep reading! I haven't felt that kind of excitement since I was a kid. Thank you Jotham's Journey!
