An outstanding translation and condensation of the works of Josephus. "The Jewish War" was especially interesting since these accounts were actually witnessed and experienced by Josephus. The photographs, maps, illustrations, charts, and sidebar discussions greatly enhanced the book. Excellent job, Dr. Maier.

Having recently returned from the Holy Land and a trip to Masada I purchased Paul Maier's excellent book with illustrations.

I have read the whole book and have a much better understanding of Jewish Antiquities and The Jewish War.

    Shalom,

    Graham Cudlipp.

Clear and to the point from a respected historian. It's great for interested readers who got bogged down in the full-length version.

Borrowed the book from a friend. Enjoyed it enough to buy my own copy. Skips much of the entire work to concentrate on those portions holding special interest to Christian students. Really helpful tool, especially for the parts about Herod, fall of Jerusalem and Masada.
