Product Description

Little Jordan has a problem. He loves to be with his friends at school, but his skin color and hair texture is different from theirs. Jordan thinks God doesn't love him because he looks different. He soon prays for a change in his appearance so he can look just like his friends. With the help of his parents and teacher, Jordan comes to understand that he has been beautifully and wonderfully made by God's hands. He discovers that sometimes his friends may even want to look like him. Jordan learns that he is loved because of the kindness on the inside and not his appearance on the outside. Recommended for ages 4 to 8.

This book shouldn't be brought at all. It doesn't promote self esteem for a young Black child and the words in the book encourage self-hatred. The introduction and online summary of this book by the author is definitely misleading and it doesn't portray a positive hair image for a child of color. Luckily, my wife and I quickly noticed the incorrect perception and stopped showing/reading the book immediately to our 3 year old son.

I give this book a 10+. My son loves this book. He is able to relate to the main character. He is able to get a positive lesson from this book and we read it very often, at first EVERY night, now about once to twice a week. His name is also Jordan so he can really see himself in this book. "Hats Off" to this author, where can we get more of the Jordan series of books?
