I am sorry to be negative here, but I have to caution those that are interested in purchasing this Bible for their children. I purchased this Bible and immediately saw some glaring problems. There is ALOT of paraphrasing here and much adding/omitting to/from the Word. It is NOT biblically accurate. Right off the bat in Genesis it is said that the snake slithered up to Eve and said "Does God really love you?...the words hissed into her ears and sunk deep down into her heart, like poison. Does God love me? Eve wondered. Suddenly she didn't know anymore."Is this what the Bible says in Genesis 3? No it is not. It says nothing about God's love for Eve. The question was:Verse 1 "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" Do I want my young, impressionable 4 yo questioning God's love for him? No!I felt a real caution in my spirit when I sat down and began reading this Bible. I felt that I needed to review it b/f sharing it with my child. You would be wise to do the same.

Due to the glowing recommendation of a couple friends, I grabbed this title and another for my then-5--year-old to look through and choose for a new, fresh reading. So, this review is partly a reflection of her opinion and mine. First, I found some of the stories to be inaccurate when compared to actual Scripture. I also felt that it was overly emotional. I thought the illustrations were distracting and unattractive, and I realize this is a matter of opinion. My daughter said she did not like this one because it was ugly and said the same thing. She was referring to the end of each story that refers back to Jesus. The Complete Illustrated Children's Bible published by Harvest House won her vote, as well as the Catherine Vos Child's Story Bible. The selection was wider and showed the complete character of God rather than just majoring on his attribute of love. Anyway, just our opinion. I am very surprised at it's popularity. It isn't one I would gift, especially to a new believer.

We are finding this storybook Bible to be much more storybook then Bible, with many details changed to fit the points the author was trying to make. The language is confusing, often using slang our children don't understand. Also, the author was trying very hard to communicate God's great Love, a crucial concept for kids to understand, but it was done in an unbalanced way, forgetting to mention things like God's holiness and sovereignty. Understanding that God is holy is crucial to understanding the concept of sin and to understanding how great God's Love truly is. We appreciate how the author tried to point the reader to Jesus in every story, but for our family it doesn't make up for the inaccuracies, additions, confusing wording and the unbalanced view of God.

Very disappointed in this book. Some of the stories are just plain incorrect. One story says that Isaac was the only son of Abraham. I had bought this book to share with missionaries in South Africa, now I will probably just throw them away - I had bought 2.

This book is not at all true to the Holy Bible. It twists the Word of God and changes the meaning of Scripture.
